Udyr Revealed as the new Rework Champion for League of Legends

Publish Date: February 1, 2021

At the beginning of 2021, Riot Games and the League of Legends team finally revealed which champions were up for potential reworks next. So far Dr Mundo is scheduled to have his rework coming out soon while a mystery champion is also getting their rework revealed potentially very soon as well. The vote lasted for a couple of weeks and now the results of the voting are in. The next champion to get a rework for 2022 will be, Udyr.

The champions that were in the vote reflected some similar champions from voting before. The other four champions outside of Udyr that were up for a rework were Skarner, Nocturne, Quinn and Shyvana.

Nocturne and Shyvana returned from the first round of voting. Of the champions in that first round Volibear, Fiddlesticks and soon Dr Mundo have all or will all have received reworks. Unlike the first vote where Volibear and Fiddlesticks were very close, Udyr won this one by quite a bit in terms of the popular vote.

It will be interesting to see what they do with Udyr. He is a very unique champion in League of Legends and while it is hard to argue that his kit feels old, he has been getting a lot of love in recent months. After getting played in the LPL and LCK, Udyr has now been a staple pick in all for major regions. Just in the LCS Udyr was played in four of the five games for the Lock In Tournament Finals. He is expected to get nerfs to his Phoenix stance so it will be interesting to see if it is enough to knock him out of the meta.

For hardcore Udyr fans this may not have been what they wanted but luckily they will get another full year to enjoy him as he is. Once 2022 hits though, his time as he has basically been since day one will be gone and a new Phoenix will likely rise. Make sure to keep it here at The Game Haus for updates on Udyr as they come out.
