2023 Spring Review

Had Golden Guardians not gone on their incredible run, TSM would have been the biggest surprise of the LCS Spring Split. The team not only exceeded expectations but were one game away from playoffs and potentially making their own run. While TSM fans generally expect much more, with the way this roster was being presented, eight wins felt like a miracle.

The team finished 8-10 which was good enough for seventh. Had they beaten 100 Thieves to start week 8, things would have been very interesting. To the point where 100T would not have even had a chance to finish third. The race was a close one and up until the end, Chawy and TSM felt like they were in it. Sadly, everything fell apart after that 100 Thieves game.

2023 Summer Split Roster

Top- Hauntzer

Jng- Bugi

Mid- Ruby/Insanity

Bot- WildTurtle

Sup- Chime

This roster will be the last TSM LCS roster of all time. Or at least that is likely the case as their owner announced that TSM will be leaving the region at the end of the split. So seeing Hauntzer and WildTurtle on the team will help for LCS fans to feel a bit nostalgic. WildTurtle was a pleasant surprise and TSM fans will be hoping that he can find the magic just one more time. Hauntzer saw limited action but has generally been a solid enough weakside player to hold his own. Along with WT, Chime will finally have a consistent bot laner to play with during his time at TSM and this should only help the team. With the exit of Maple though the mid lane and jungle do come into question. Ruby is an interesting piece as he showed flashes with Team Heretics in the LEC but was pretty underwhelming. His replacement until a visa comes in, Insanity, was an interesting piece with Immortals but was buried in Academy for some reason. Lastly, there is Bugi who will still be a wild card, especially with Maple no longer there to watch his back.

Predicted Spring Placement: 8th

Potential Range for the Team: 6th – 10th

TSM are not a great team. But they shouldn’t be terrible either. If WildTurtle can be anything like he was in those last few weeks of the LCS then the team will have someone to play through. The problem is that beyond him, Chime is really the only one that TSM fans can trust.

The interesting thing is that Insanity is arguably better than Ruby. Ruby may have higher potential but since TSM are leaving, playing a player for their future talent is really not worth it.

For TSM to win, Bugi will have to be playing at his best and helping whoever is in mid and WildTurtle to get as fed as possible. If he tries to take over the game too much, he wont have a player of the caliber of Maple there to bail him out.

It is sad to see that this will be the last TSM LCS roster ever but at least it is one that should make the playoffs and then drop out of it shortly after. Goodbye TSM, see you at Worlds?
