After possibly millions of votes, the next VGU Update will be Skarner. It was announced February 4, 2022, on the League of Legends website. Skarner is a champion that fans enjoy but do not play very often. The other four champions in the voting were Tryndamere, Shyvana, Kog’Maw and Nocturne. Here is a look at how it all went down for the Skarner Champion Rework vote.

This was another year that Shyvana finished second and many are wanting her to get a rework here soon. So much so that in the update, they said that she is strongly being considered to get a rework despite not winning the vote. That said, it is clear that Skarner was the winner garnering over a third of the votes.

This is one of the bigger landslides in terms of voting for champion reworks to date. Skarner is a beloved champion thanks mainly to Captain Flowers, a one-trick LCS caster. His love has spread to the community and while Skarner sees ups and downs of plays, it is clear that he needed some love.

The main aspect that will be staying is his ultimate which is crucial to his kit. That being said his passive clearly needs work and so do his abilities. The interesting part is that this is not the first rework for Skarner. He has had abilities changed and even his passive moved around. They just have not been able to find the balance they were wanting.

Lastly, they did announce that they would finally show some love to his lore. It is clear that Skarner will be getting the full makeover and not just a partial one which most fans will be very happy about. Expect his rework to come sometime next year or at the very earliest sometime in November or December.
