Riot Games continues its charitable giving to medical workers and frontline health care professionals in the wake of COVID-19. Beginning Thursday, Riot Games will be holding a charity fundraiser in League of Legends for the next four weeks (from June 25, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. PT to July 23, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. PT). During this time, Riot will be donating 100% of proceeds from Nurse Akali, Kennen M.D., and Surgeon Shen—and other related items—to the Riot Games Social Impact Fund. The complete list of items we’ll be donating 100% of the proceeds include:
After this time, the chromas, emotes, and bundles will be removed from the store. The chromas may eventually return in the Gemstone shop, but they won’t be available for direct purchase after the fundraiser has ended. The skins will remain available.
This is only the latest effort by Riot Games to help combat COVID-19. They have already raised over $630,000 for COVID-19 relief during the 48-hour Mid-Season Streamathon, donated PPE to large hospitals in various Riot Regions (100K+ in face masks, 100K+ surgical masks, 10K+ medical gowns, 10 ventilators, and more), partnered with World Health Organization initiative #PlayApartTogether, and supported organizations like Games For Change and Stay In the Game Relief Fund.
All fundraiser items will be marked with a “Social Impact” Badge in the store. Donations will directly support pandemic relief by giving doctors, nurses, and other frontline workers the resources they need to act quickly and protect those most vulnerable. Money raised will also provide critical financial aid to families and individuals who’ve been negatively impacted by the virus.
