Along with the plethora of news that Riot Games are giving its fans, is the announcement of Tales of Runeterra. These will be short stories based around the various places in Runeterra. In the announcement, they specifically mention Ionia as this will be the region most explored this year. The plan is to release “Several of these videos” this year.
The first of these videos shows Akali and Shen talking about invaders and fighting to protect the citizens of Ionia. A release date was not given but they are fully voiced and the animations on them are top quality.
One thing that is known is that Riot is stepping up the development of their entity outside of Summoner’s Rift. Their focus seems to be on expanding their universe and diving into more lore than just what is currently with each champion. It seems like these videos will tap more into the regions and stories of the mythical land of Runeterra as a whole.
