As was teased earlier this week, Riot Games has announced their newest tabletop game, Tellstones: King’s Gambit. It is a two-player game based around bluffing your opponent. They have noted in the announcement that it is a “Perfect Information” styled game. What this means is that there is no information hidden. An example of this is how chess hides nothing and the game starts out essentially even.
The game will be based on “a game that was played within Demacia in Reneterra”. It was teased in a quick image during the teaser video. Two players can be seen across from each other moving circular stones in a row. Not much else is known right now but for those who want to learn more, the Riot site is live and they can signup to receive more information.
This will be the first tabletop game since Mechs vs Minions which was originally released in 2016. Luckily it does not seem like there will be a four-year gap in-between Tellstones and the next tabletop game. With this announcement, Riot is also establishing a full-on Tabletop Team that will be creating more games beyond Tellstones. Riot Games continues to fulfill its vision of becoming more than just League of Legends.
