2023 Spring Review

Surprise, this team was actually CLG during the 2023 Spring Split. Then, soon after the team was knocked out, CLG sold their entire org to NRG. When looking at CLG’s last split, it was another successful one. Something that their fans were starting to become accustomed to after a strong 2022 Summer Split Showing.

They would go 10-8 and finish the regular season in fourth. Playoffs would be relatively uneventful for the squad in their last-ever LCS Playoffs. They would challenge C9 and push them to a game four but would peter out in the lower bracket with an 0-3 showing against Evil Geniuses. But out with the old and in with the new, or something like that.

2023 Summer Split Roster

Top- Dhokla

Jng- Contractz

Mid- Palafox

Bot- FBI

Sup- IgNar

NRG decided to keep most of the team together. The top side will be able to continue the synergy that has seen them challenge many of the best teams in the LCS. Dhokla took everything he learned in Academy and has shown himself to be an extremely solid top laner. Contractz was much of the same but consistency still is a bit of an issue as he can look top-tier at certain points and then disappear at others. Then there is Palafox who was arguably their best player and one who carried even against big names like Gori and jojopyun last Split. The newest additions are FBI and IgNar, both of whom should be upgrades at their respective positions.

Predicted Spring Placement: 6th

Potential Range for the Team: 3rd – 7th

NRG could easily be one of the biggest dark horses in the LCS. The remaining CLG players may not have been the most talented, Luger probably was, but their synergy is nearly unmatched. They are very good at playing to each other’s strengths and should be a great foundation as this team moves on to a new org.

FBI is underrated nearly every Split and will quietly put together another solid season. But ultimately this team will go as far as their support. IgNar has been in contention for being one of the best supports in the LCS at different points in his career. But last Split was one he would like to forget. Luckily he gets a much better Bot laner partner and an org that in generally pretty solid.

This squad has the potential to knock on the door of the top teams but may lack the firepower to break it down. FBI will need to be the guy in terms of damage for this team to make it far. If not they will likely finish right around where they always seem to, somewhere between fourth and sixth.
