MAD Lions have announced today that they are renewing their coaching staff contracts for the 2022 and 2023 LEC seasons. The contracts are as follows:
- Head Coach James “Mac” MacCormack (Through 2023)
- Strategic Coach Christophe “Kaas” van Oudheusden (Through 2022)
- Head of Player Development Patrick “Pad” Suckow-Breum (Through 2023)
- Analyst Carlos “Aagie” Caprio Cuenca (Through 2023)
MAD Lions are coming off an incredible season in the LEC winning in both in the Spring and Summer split. Not only did they win the LEC, they had a great MSI run. Despite a 3-0 Quarterfinals loss at Worlds 2021 to Damwon Kia, the year was an incredible success. Due to such, MAD renewing the contracts of the staff that brought them to LEC glory makes sense. In terms of League of Legends, it is uncommon to see most coaches renew contracts, especially after winning. Much like after a team wins the Super Bowl, there is usually a talent leech. MAD seems to have bucked the trend, which seems quite good for them.
MAD released a video to celebrate and announce the occasion:
Even with the League of Legends success, MAD Lions revealed in their press announcement that these coaches also helped bring other assets to the team. This includes the great culture at MAD Lions has had over the last two years that has caused them to meteorically rise. This is also the first “roster” move that MAD Lions have done so far in the offseason. Current rumors are suggesting that Matyáš “Carzzy” Orság might not be returning to MAD. It seems most likely that Carzzy will be joining Vitality as posted by LEC Woloo, a famous leaker.

The Game Haus is currently unable to verify the authenticity of these rumors, but it is worth noting in regards to the 2022 MAD Lions roster. Time will tell if MAD is able to recapture their 2021 success in the 2022 LEC season.
