LPL Semifinals Preview

LPL 2021 Spring Split Week 8 Preview

As the Grand Finals draws ever nearer, the final four teams are one step away from the biggest match of the season. With two great matches, the Semi-Finals should be more competitive than ever. Here’s a breakdown of the matches.

Match 1: Top Esports vs Suning

The first match of the Semifinals features both Suning and TOP. TOP are considered by many as the best team in the world right now and are the favorites in the match.

However, Suning cannot be discarded completely. After a shaky ending to a good run in the regular season, Suning had little difficulty dispatching Victory Five, who looked improved. Suning looked cleaner and sharper and earned their spot in the semifinals. While TOP are the favorites and confirmed their favoritism during the regular season, they shouldn’t expect it to be as easy as it was then.

Previous encounter: TOP won 2-0

Prediction: TOP

Match 2: JD Gaming vs LGD

The second match of the semifinals will be even more competitive. LGD has looked phenomenal during playoffs, with a 3-1 win over WE, and a clean 3-0 over IG. With their players seemingly improving every match, it feels like the sky is the limit for this LGD team.

However, JD Gaming are as tough an opponent as they get. The current champions are one step away from finals again, with their rivals potentially being the same as before. If LGD think that JDG will be like their previous encounters, they are mistaken.

Previous encounter: JDG won 2-1

Prediction: JD Gaming

And those two are the final two matches before two teams play for all the marbles. While a possible rematch is possible, neither JGD nor TOP have an easy game ahead of them. With matches being best of five, both have the potential to go the distance. It will all come down to who shows up to play when it matters the most.
