LoL 2v2 Arena Kayle guide: Item build, best augments, more

Publish Date: July 27, 2023

Kayle is a late game monster in the new League of Legends 2v2 Arena mode. She has insane burst damage and one of the most broken ultimates in the entire game mode. But Kayle definitely has her weaknesses, including an absurdly weak early game phase.

From building her properly, understanding which augments to take, and knowing which champions she doesn’t play well against, Kayle takes a strong understanding to master in the new League of Legends Arena mode.

Target bans

  • Yorick
  • Warwick
  • Teemo

These target bans counter Kayle pretty hard. Yorick’s walls prevent Kayle from being able to keep her significant kiting distance, and therefore can be detrimental for the hyper carry. Warwick, on the other hand, can burst Kayle down with his ultimate. If Warwick manages to hit Kayle with his ult before Kayle can react, it’s game over.

Teemo, on the other hand, is difficult to handle purely because of his blind. Outside of that though, he doesn’t pose much of a threat.

Team synergy

Kayle plays incredibly well with other hyper burst damage carries alongside tanks. The key to earning first place is to essentially negate all the damage from the enemy team, and burst them down instantly after. Therefore, having a teammate that can soak damage without Kayle’s ultimate is optimal.

  • ex: Jax, Warwick, Wukong, Singed

Warwick is actually a great pick with Kayle. His survivability allows Kayle to do her thing, while his ultimate practically ensures the death of one enemy champion. But keep in mind, playing against him is also detrimental.

On the other hand, if Kayle’s allie is someone like Kennen — who can burst with area of effect alongside CC, they typically deal enough damage to allow Kayle to win. Picks Kayle doesn’t synergize well with are other super squishy, ranged attack based carries.

Arena Kayle Item Build

  • Best: Nashor’s Tooth, Guinsoo’s Rageblade, Berserker’s Greaves
  • Situational: Blade of the Ruined King, Kraken Slayer, Immortal Shieldbow, Guardian Angel

Similar as with Vayne, Guinsoo’s Rageblade is an absolute necessity on Kayle. The item is generally incredibly valuable in Arena mode, since it generally offers phenomenal dueling potential. Of course, build Guardian Hammer first for the attack damage and attack speed, then Berserker’s Greaves as the boot option thereafter.

Attack speed Kayle is the way

The key to playing Kayle is to attack as many times in the span of her ultimate — thereby creating a situation where the enemy cannot hit her, while she instantly bursts them down. This makes items such as Kraken Slayer and Blade of the Ruined King very good.

But for crit in general, players will want to avoid it since Guinsoo’s negates crit stats anyhow. Therefore, look to build items like Zephyr instead of the typical crit items. Immortal Shieldbow provides a great passive, therefore its still viable. Kraken Slayer as well has a great passive, which makes up for its lack of crit stats in the build.

Arena Kayle Best Augments

Prismatic Tier

  • Best: Ultimate Revolution (OP), Symphony of War
  • Good: Omni Soul, Tap Dancer, Trueshot Prodigy, Infernal Conduit

Ultimate Revolution refreshes Kayle’s ultimate ability after casting it. This means she can use it twice in row, making for absurd amount of invulnerability. If she gets this augment, she’s practically guaranteed first place — as long as she makes it to late game.

Symphony of War is the second best prismatic augment, since it provides lethal tempo and conqueror’s, two excellent runes on the champion. If players cannot get either of these two, then just go for any other damage oriented one.

Gold Tier

  • Best: Scoped Weapons
  • Good: Lightning Strikes, Firebrand, Ethereal Weapon

Scope Weapons is a busted augment, and will definitely see nerf in the future. The amount of ranged it provides breaks the game. And in the hands of a basic attack based champion, such as Kayle, it provides absurd amounts of utility. Get this whenever possible.

If players don’t have access to it, Lightning Strikes, Firebrand, and Ethereal Weapon are all good augments as well. Otherwise, just get damage oriented augments.

Silver Tier

  • Best: Light ’em Up!, Deft
  • Good: Witchful Thinking, Typhoon, Infernal Soul

Light ’em Up! combos way too well with Guinsoo’s Rageblade. The item seems almost specifically catered for champions who build the specific mythic, making for insane amounts of damage.

If the best rune is not available, aim for Witchful Thinking , Typhoon, or Infernal Soul. These all provide a solid boost in strength.
