It has been a while since League of Legends received a new game mode. The last one was Nexus Blitz and that has been under maintenance for years at this point but it is expected to return sometime in 2023. With that, there is also a new game mode that the Dev have been teasing since the beginning of the year. The League of Legends Arena mode has been revealed as the Summer Event. With it though comes a completely unexpected game in the Tournament of Souls. Here is what is known so far.

A lot of fans are excited for Project L, which is Riot Games’ 2D fighting game set in the League of Legends universe. Many people are hoping that this game will release in 2023 but it feels more likely to be coming out in 2024. The Tournament of Souls looks like a smaller version and almost a test for that game.
This game will feature all of the champions getting a Soul Fighter skin. That being said players will focus on playing as Samira as she works her way through the tournament. There is no doubt that fans will be clamoring to play this.
Here is the rest of what Riot Games sent out in a Press Release about the minigame.
“The objective of the tournament is to defeat all ten opponent champions and become its new champion. Players can claim rewards after each victory and can unlock the Story and Expert difficulty levels, each with differing levels of challenge for players of all levels of skill and time commitment.”
This minigame will be out on the League of Legends client exclusively. It will be on the PBE potentially soon but will release with the Summer Event on July 20, 2023.
