LEAGUE of Legends: LCS Summer 2023

Publish Date: July 20, 2023

eSports has gained popularity worldwide in recent years. If you’re at all in tune with the term, you’ll know that it entails competitively playing video games, that is; tournaments. The League of Legends is one of the major eSports tournaments globally.

The LCS (League of Legends Championship Series), created in 2013, is a regional compartment of the overall League of Legends ecosystem. The LCS is the North American chapter of the general championship and is an umbrella for all the LoL eSports teams that operate in and around the USA and Canada. This subdivision is run by Riot Games, which uses its studios as a base for the teams to play in.

LCS Structure and Format

This league is operated based on “splits.” A split is a particular competitive period in which the official games of the league are played. The LCS has two splits; the Spring and Summer splits. These two splits make up a complete season.

Ever since the league began franchising in 2018, the LCS has operated on a ten-team basis. These teams compete in the two splits every season. The Spring split involves qualification from six of the ten teams in the league. These six teams play best-of-five playoffs, determining the winner of the Spring split season and the team representing the division in the Mid-Season Invitation.

The Summer split is a tad different since the top eight teams -instead of six- qualify for the playoffs. These playoffs are also the best-of-five and decide the summer split champion. Furthermore, from the summer split playoffs, four teams will emerge to represent the division at the League of Legends World Championship.

LCS Summer 2023

The first split season (spring) for 2023 has been concluded, while the Summer split was scheduled to begin in June 2023. However, due to a strike by the LSC Players Association, the commencement was rescheduled. It however began that same June and is scheduled to end on August 20, 2023.

The ten teams that will be participating in LCS Summer 2023 are;

  • Golden Guardians
  • Evil Geniuses
  • Cloud 9
  • Team Liquid
  • NRG eSports
  • Dignitas
  • Team SoloMid
  • 100 Thieves
  • Immortals
  • FlyQuest

According to eSports experts, some favourites have emerged judging by precedent and the 2023 Spring split. Cloud 9 lingers at the top of most predictors’ expectations, while FlyQuest and Golden Guardians are also contenders.

Following from the present standings, however, we can say that the experts are nearly spot on, with Cloud 9 serving as table toppers, and Golden Guardians closely following in second position.

Fortunately, you can benefit from this eSports tournament by betting on any LCS Summer split team of your choice. There are exceptional sites that come through with good odds and placements for you to engage in LoL betting.

Where to watch LCS 2023

The tournament is in its development years and is still growing. For that reason, catching the tournament on the most popular broadcasters may not be possible. However, there are some legit ways to watch the 2023 LCS Summer split.
Firstly, the organizers have an official Twitch streaming channel that carries its games. You can watch your favourite LCS teams on this channel since the channel uploads weekly content. Also, YouTube plays host to LCS games, and you can catch up with them there.

If you’d rather go the traditional way of viewing, you can check ESPN. The channel also hosts eSports tourneys and has LCS on its eSport tournament roster. The Spring and Summer split events of the competition are broadcasted on this channel, and you can enjoy it here.

Conclusion

The LCS is fast becoming popular among eSport tournaments around the world. It is regarded among the top sub-divisions operating under the League of Legends ecosystem. With its easy-to-understand format and an increasing flurry of reliable teams, one can only vouch for more development for the league.

Moreover, these developments make it easier to score winners while betting on LCS teams. You can now easily keep a record of the best teams and make your staking decisions based on available power rankings. Overall, the LCS has come to stay, and that too, for a long while.
