K’Sante Nerfs Incoming after Dominating Patch 13.21

K’Sante absolutely dominated the high elo in League of Legends Patch 13.21. After receiving buffs to his kit during the patch, the champion went truly rampant. He boasted incredibly high win rates alongside pick rates, indicating a broken pick. And it seems not too long after this buff, Riot implemented a micro-patch for the character, alongside K’Sante Nerfs for Patch 13.22.

All recent K’Sante Nerfs

Here is a recap of the micro-patch which targeted nerfing K’Sante on many different levels:

• P ult mark damage changed from 45% – 75% (6/11/16) to 30% – 78% (6 -18) –
• Q base damage reduced from 30 – 150 to 30 – 130
• Q cost increased from 15 to 27 – 15
• E base shield increased from 45 – 125 to 50 – 210
• E shield ratio reduced from 15% bonus HP to 10%
• R base attack damage reduced from 15 – 45 to 10 – 40

• Required Bonus Health for Minimum Cast Time: 1200 ⇒ 1600

Is K’Sante still Strong?

After these changes, K’Sante will likely still stand dominant in the higher ranks. His play rate didn’t decrease much at all even after the micropatch. In addition, his win rate is still pretty solid. But rather than stating that he’s OP now, it’s more fair to say he’s a very high skill cap champion who is meta in the top levels of play.

Riot Plans on more K’Sante Updates

Riot stated “We micropatched K’Sante early on in 13.21 and this note is here to make sure you all see that this change went live last week. His changes over the past few weeks have closed the gap between elite and average skilled play.

“He’s still much better in the hands of well-practiced players, which is very much intended. Now that he’s accessible and strong in the hands of many more players, we’re going to wait and see how his new strengths and weaknesses manifest in Pro play but will continue monitoring his performance in other tiers.”

In other words, they’re going to keep updating his kit to get the right mix. They seem to have a solid direction of what they want from the champion, and will highly likely continue tampering with his kit to get a nice mix for balance.
