INTZ’s Journey at Worlds : A Story for Every Match

Publish Date: September 22, 2020

With all the groups decided for Worlds 2020, group A of play-ins is full of rivalries. Today’s article will take a look at INTZ, and how each one of their matches has a story behind it.

INTZ vs MAD Lions

Starting out with the first match, INTZ will take on the LEC’s MAD Lions. The main story here is that Peter Dun, part of MAD’s coaching staff, used to be INTZ’s coach years ago.

Shini, Envy and Micao, INTZ’s jungler, mid laner, and support respectively, were all coached by Peter Dun in 2017. Even MAD’s head coach Mac was briefly part of that roster. This match will reunite INTZ’s players with their former coaches.

INTZ vs Legacy Esports

INTZ vs Legacy will be the 11th time that a CBLOL team takes on an OPL team. Currently, the OPL leads with 6 wins to the CBLOL’s 4.

Even when CBLOL teams were consistently making it to the main stage of Worlds, the OPL teams always proved to be a thorn in their sides. While Legacy has never faced a CBLOL team, bot lane carry Raes has already faced INTZ in the Worlds 2016 Wildcard qualifier.

INTZ vs SuperMassive

Another rival of the CBLOL, the TCL also has a history with Brazilian teams. While early on the CBLOL teams had the advantage, slowly the TCL started to overtake the CBLOL.

The latest showdown between the two was at last year’s worlds, where Royal Youth and Flamengo had to take it to a tiebreaker to see who would advance to the knockout stage of play-ins. Royal emerged victorious from that tiebreaker.

INTZ vs Team Liquid

The final match that INTZ will play will be against Team Liquid. The main story here is that INTZ scrimmed Team Liquid quite a bit during the regular season, and seemingly had decent results while on a much higher ping.

After winning the Grand-Finals against Pain, top laner Tay tweeted out thanking several one-tricks for helping him train certain champions, as well as thanking Team Liquid and Argentina’s Undead Gaming for scrimming them all season.

And those are some of the stories behind INTZ’s matches for play-ins. Be sure to tune in on Friday, September 25 to watch INTZ and MAD Lions kick off Worlds 2020.
