Immortals announced that Apollo will start over Altec for Week 6 of the LCS Spring Split. This comes off the back of Immortals’ first 0-2 performance last week. According to Keaton, “[Apollo] has been playing great as a part of the Academy roster and we are excited to see him on stage for the first time this year.”

Reuniting Apollo and Hakuho
Apollo has already built synergy with support Hakuho. They played together as a bottom lane duo from Spring 2017 to Summer 2019. Many fans were surprised to see Immortals splitting the two up and announcing Altec as their starter coming into 2020. Instead, Apollo has been playing for Immortals in Academy League, alongside Gate.
It is difficult to see how this change will win Immortals more games. Perhaps Apollo’s laning phase will be stronger than Altec’s. However, drafting and gaining pressure early game seems to be a wider issue than just bottom lane.
Keaton goes on to say, “Spring Split allows us to make these changes fluidly, as this is not necessarily a permanent switch. This off-season we intentionally signed players into Academy that we felt would be able to elevate to the LCS as they performed strongly in practice and competition.”

Immortals faces Golden Guardians and Counter Logic Gaming for Week 6. Both teams sit towards the bottom of the standings, and Immortals already defeated both opponents in the first round robin.
