Immortals 2024 LCS Spring Split Preview

Publish Date: January 16, 2024

The LCS 2024 season is about to begin. This offseason was a doozy for the league as three teams left in TSM, Evil Geniuses and Golden Guardians. Only one of those spots were filled with Shopify Rebellion taking over TSM’s slot and the LCS was cut down to eight teams. But now fans are wanting to know more about their team as we head toward the start of the season. Here is The Game Haus’ Immortals 2024 LCS Spring Split Preview.

2023 Summer Review

It was another disappointing year for Immortals in 2023. They went 9-27 through both Split and 5-13 in the Summer. They were the only team in the LCS to not make it into either playoffs. While it was not great, there were parts of the team that worked well, not all of them were brought back but showed flashes at different times.

Truthfully beyond some plays from Tactical, there is not much to highlight with this squad as it was another year of mediocrity for Immortals. So, let’s move on.

2024 Spring Split Roster

Top- Castle

Jng- Armao

Mid- Mask

Bot- Tactical

Sup- Olleh

This team has more unknowns than usual and could be a dark horse if some of their parts come together. Castle and Mask are going to be lumped together as they are both former Korean challengers players who have yet to live up to their potential. At least that is what Immortals are banking on. They could be hidden gems who were never really given their chance to shine as they were either blocked by strong players or struggled to live up to high expectations. In a League that lacks the same level of talent, these two could finally find their footing.

Then you have an interesting bot lane in Olleh and Tactical. Both have very high highs and very low lows. Tactical showed last year that maybe his floor has gone up and he is a bit less volatile but Immortals will likely be leaning on him as their main carry. Olleh will have to show that he is worth bringing back into the LCS after some on-and-off time in the League since leaving Team Liquid. Lastly, there is Armao who is the equivalent of a game-managing QB in the NFL or a solid but unspectacular point guard in the NBA.

2024 Spring Split Player to Watch: Armao

The last statement above is why Armao will be the player to watch. Last year on Evil Geniuses he was able to help the team start off well because he is a very heady jungler. The problem was that once teams started to figure out his tendencies, EG had to make a change. This will be something that Immortals will have to watch out for as well.

Armao will be able to make smart calls and good decisions to Immortals find success. It may be the main reason Castle and Mask are able to produce while the bot lane becomes the second point of stability. If he can manage the game and control the situations Immortals put themselves into then they could be a solid team. This is why so much will hinge on his play.

Predicted Spring Placement: 7th

This is a very hard team to predict mainly because like most of the bottom half teams in the LCS, their floor is good but their ceiling is very limited. Immortals will really have to rely on Armao to push past the language barrier. They should be able to push for a playoff spot in the Spring Split if Armao can do this and if Tactical can be the carry many have always thought he could be. There is no doubt that his talent is there and in a weaker LCS, Tactical truly has an opportunity to shine once more. But there are a lot of question marks surrounding this team and if things do not go right, then they could be in for more of what has become the norm for Immortals, mediocrity.
