To truly shake up the offseason, one of the biggest stars in League of Legends entered free agency. On Monday November 15, Hanwha Life Esports announced that mid laner Chovy and AD carry Deft would be entering free agency. Even though the announcement came on Monday, fans have been speculating as to where Chovy and Deft could bring their talents next since the end of Worlds.

Our contract with 'Chovy' Jung ji-hun and 'Deft' Kim Hyunk-gyu has expired today. We thank them for their passion and dedication over the past time with the team and we respect their decision. >>The entire notice: https://t.co/RlIyVSbpoe pic.twitter.com/lsCP9Iw7v0— Hanwha Life Esports (@HLEofficial) November 16, 2021
In an offseason filled with big name free agents, Chovy serves as one of the most interesting options for mid lane. Chovy has spent the past three years on three different teams. In 2019 Chovy reached the Group Stage at Worlds with Griffin, and managed to make it back to Groups with DRX in 2020. While on HLE, Chovy was once again able to carry his team to the Group Stage once last time, where Hanwha eventually fell to T1.
Chovy has been touted as one of the best laners in the world. Chovy frequently posted massive CS differentials against other mid laners, and would utilize this large gold advantage to swing the game into HLE’s favor. Several teams are without a top-tier mid lane player this offseason, and teams are looking to fill that gap with a player like Chovy.

Also entering free agency is veteran ADC Deft. Deft has been in the professional circuit for years, and consistently plays at a high level. Although he has an MSI title and several LCK titles under his belt, Deft is still looking for that elusive World Championship trophy. It won’t be surprising to see Deft look for a championship caliber team this offseason.
