When Team Liquid’s superstar support player CoreJJ said Eyla was the second-best support in the LCS, it raised some eyebrows. Eyla, TLs academy support, had just finished subbing in for CoreJJ, who had to wait on his green card to start the spring split. In his absence, Eyla helped led TL to a 3-1 start. CoreJJ’s comment was originally seen as just hyping up his teammate. But now his statement is starting to have some merit.
Eyla was instrumental in TL’s recent LCS Proving Grounds Spring title run — going 15-36-161 across 16 playoff games. In the finals against 100T academy, he took his game to the next level, going an insane 5-12-60 across the five-game series. Most notably, his Renata ult in Game 5 helped his team clinch a much-needed team fight, allowing his team to snowball from there.
Down 800 gold, TLA had control over the river and was engaged on by 100TA. Despite the early fight not going their way, Eyla was able to land his “Hostile Takeover”, allowing his adc to pick off two.

No, Eyla is nowhere near the second-best support in the region, but his recent performance left no doubt he deserves an LCS starting job. The problem is, it won’t be with Team Liquid. With two-time LCS MVP CoreJJ blocking him on the roster, Eyla will either need to find a team to buy out his contract or wait for his contract to expire. But which LCS team would be a fit for the academy star?
Which LCS Teams Make Sense?
Cloud9 instantly pops out as the perfect landing spot for the 22-year-old. They benched their starter Winsome during their playoff run and Eyla would mesh well with rising star ADC Berserker. He has a wide champion pool, having played 11 different champions 10+ times in his pro career.
TSM and Immortals could also all be in search of an upgrade at the support position. For TSM, they brought in Chinese support Shenyi who they benched a few weeks into the season. He was promoted back to the LCS roster and showed improved results. But after having their worst finish to a split, it wouldn’t be surprising if TSM made some drastic roster changes.
Immortals bot lane struggled throughout the split, with Destiny having to acclimate to two different lane partners. He was unable to find much success with either WildTurtle or Arrow. Both are aggressive laners and would benefit from Eyla’s playing style.
Eyla is arguably the top player in LCS Academy and would greatly boost either of the three teams. It would be a shame for him to have to wait till his contract ends after the year before being able to pursue an LCS starting spot.
