Clutch Gaming: Week 3 LCS Preview

Clutch Gaming may have started off slow, but they certainly ramped things up during week 2. After a massive upset victory over the previously undefeated Golden Guardians, they downed 100 Thieves handily. Clutch looks to continue their win streak during Week 3. Preview their upcoming matches below.

Day 1 Preview – TSM (2-2)

After a stellar performance late in the 2019 Spring Split only to lose in the finals, TSM look to get their revenge during the summer. Currently, TSM as a whole have the fifth highest KDA in the league and are ranked number two in kills per minute. This TSM team looks to constantly pressure the pace in their solo lanes.

Furthermore, TSM’s rock in the midlane, Søren “Bjergsen” Bjerg is sure to perform looking to improve their split. He currently is in the top 10 for creep score at 10 minutes and at 20 minutes. In addition to Bjergsen, bot lane duo, Jesper “Zven” Svenningsen and Andy “Smoothie” TA, both rank in the top three for kill participation. Lastly, top laner, “Broken Blade” has shown some incredible play during the Summer Split and will come out swinging.

While TSM have had some impressive stats in the Summer Split, Clutch’s Mid Laner and Bot Lane, Damonte and Cody Sun respectively, were on fire last week. Damonte is currently seventh in KDA, first in creep score per 10 minutes, and in the top five for both gold at 10 minutes and 20 minutes. His constant farming and great play allow his team to snowball their leads to victory. Furthermore, Clutch turned their 2019 season around once they started playing around Cody Sun. Due to their bot lane focused play, Cody Sun is currently one of the best players in the LCS statistically. He currently ranks second in damage per minute and ranks third in gold per minute. If CG wants to win on Saturday, They need to play through their gold advantages in the Mid Lane and dominant performances in the Bot Lane.

Prediction: CG in under 30 minutes.

Day 2 – Flyquest (1-3)

Similar to TSM, Flyquest look to redeem themselves after a semi-final’s exit during the spring split. Despite their lackluster performances this split, this team shouldn’t be doubted. AD Carry, Jason “Wildturtle” Tran is a long time LCS veteran who carries his team to victory with his aggressive play.  He sits in the top 10 for damage per minute and gold per minute despite his team’s losses. Furthermore, Flyquest’s midlaner, Eugene “Pobelter” Park, is another long time veteran with multiple LCS titles under his belt. Lastly, Flyquest’s top laner, Omran “V1per” Shoura, showed a stellar performance with his signature champion, Riven, against TSM.

Keep an eye out for Heo “Huni” Seung-hoon to have a great performance in the top lane. If Huni can utilize his favorite champion, Rumble, he should have no problem popping off. Huni is currently sixth in damage per minute and is helping his team in every major team fight. Huni allows his team to apply pressure across the map with his great split pushing and solo kills onto wandering enemy solo laners.

Prediction: CG
