Dardoch Heads to the University of St. Thomas

Publish Date: October 10, 2022

One of the most talented but controversial figures in LCS history is making his way back to college. According to sources and the University of St. Thomas Fandom page, Joshua “Dardoch” Hartnett has joined the University team. Here is the latest on the North American jungle.

Dardoch was one of the most highly anticipated native talents when he joined the LCS. Starting with Team Liquid and Team Liquid Academy back in 2015, it was clear that he was an extremely skilled player. So much so that he was named to the starting Team Liquid roster at the start of 2016, a role which he had for just a split. He would go back and forth between the LCS and Academy with the team after quite a bit of controversy surrounding his attitude toward the organization and fellow players.

After this up-and-down year, Dardoch would start making his rounds on multiple teams in the LCS. Immortals, to CLG, back to Team Liquid, Echo Fox, OpTic Gaming, Immortals again, TSM and finally Dignitas. In terms of his play, Dardoch always showed flashes of brilliance. This was what allowed him to stick in the scene for so long despite the behind-the-scenes issues. After this, it was his knowledge of the game that helped him land a coaching job with Immortals on their main team. Then he became the head coach of the IMT Academy squad.

Now, it seems as though he is taking his talents back to school with the University of St. Thomas in Texas. This squad is coming off of a College League of Legends Championship and now adding a player with plenty of talent to help keep them strong. Overall they were arguably the best Collegiate team in League of Legends for the entirety of 2022 with wins in the HUE International along with two second-place finishes in the UPL Spring Playoffs and Gateway Legends Collegiate Invitational.

It will be interesting to see if Dardoch will still be helping out Immortals while he is in school or if this will be it for Dardoch in the LCS for the next few years. Either way, Dardoch certainly left his stamp on the LCS.
