After finalizing their roster for 2022, Cloud9 still had a few more changes planned for their coaching staff. On Tuesday November 30, cloud9 announced they will be moving on from Mithy and Reignover as coaches for the LCS team. C9 also announced the departure of coach Westrice from the Academy team.
For 2 years we have watched you grow as a coach alongside our teams, but our paths have now diverged.

At the start of 2021 Cloud9 promoted Reignover to the head coaching job after joining the staff in 2019. Reignover spearheaded the revamped Cloud9 roster to a LCS Spring title. C9 had qualified for MSI, however Reignover was unable to make the trip to Iceland and Mithy had to handle the reins for the tournament.

Under Mithy, C9 produced mixed results on the international stage. Despite beating both RNG and DAMWON KIA, Cloud9 appeared to struggle in more favorable match ups. When Cloud9 came back for LCS Summer, Mithy took over the head coaching duties full time. Under Mithy, the team continued to stumble a bit as they attempted to transition into a new meta. Mithy and Reignover would eventually share time as the top coach throughout the summer split.
Westrice has been with Cloud9 Academy since it’s inception. As a coach, Westrice helped promote several LCS players like Blaber, GoldenGlue, Zeyzal, Smoothie, Palafox and Diamond. Westrice also lead the team to several first place finished in the LCS Academy League.
Currently Cloud9 is still working to finalize their new coaching staff for 2022. CEO Jack Etienne mentioned the announcement would come before the team leaves for Korea.
