Cloud9 Announces K1ng as Starting ADC with Zven going to Academy

Publish Date: May 29, 2021

In a very surprising announcement, Cloud9 will have K1ng as their starting ADC for the LCS 2021 Summer Split. Also announced was that Zven would be going to Academy as what seems like a potential player-coach although that was no entirely clear from the announcement. Lastly Reignover is stepping down as head coach to be an assistant with Mithy taking over as the head coach of Cloud9 LCS.

It has only been a little over two weeks since Cloud9 were eliminated from MSI 2021 and yet they are making a massive change. This feels similar to when Cloud9 sent Jensen and Sneaky down to academy to sort things out. One has to wonder, did Zven do or say something after their losses at MSI to prompt this move? It feels as though there is a motive here that is unrelated to performance on the Rift.

To back up that feeling, Mithy is now the C9 head coach. He and Zven were a duo in the bot lane for years and once one of the most feared duos in the world. Considering Mithy is the head coach, it is surprising to see that someone he knows so well wouldn’t stay with the main team.

Looking forward to K1ng though, this is one that fans should be excited about. K1ng has been a standout ADC for a long time in academy and is certainly talented. He could be the next major ADC for the LCS and someone that profiles as a star for the league.
