Chovy Signs to Gen.G For 2022 LCK Roster

The biggest free agent of the offseason, Chovy, has officially signed with Gen.G ahead of the 2022 LCK season. Chovy was rumored to be looking at teams in the LPL, LCK and LCS, but ultimately settled on Gen.G. With this signing, Gen.G’s roster is complete consisting of Doran, Peanut, Chovy, Ruler and Lehends. The signing was annoucned in the tweet below.

Why Did Chovy Go To Gen.G?

The main reason Chovy probably wanted to go to Gen.G is that this is the team that gives him the best chance of winning. Money certainly played a part, but between being on a team like Hanwha Life Esports or Gen.G, the answer is obvious. This Gen.G roster is designed to be an LCK and Worlds contender. They only kept a single player, despite making Semifinals at Worlds. Gen.G as of late has been plagued by a lack of domestic success. They are usually the runner up, or don’t make it that far. This move solidifies a new direction of title contention for Gen.G.

The rest of the roster for Gen.G is looking strong as well. Doran is a Top 3 LCK laning Top Laner. His stats were incredible despite being on a bad KT Rolster lineup. Peanut had a solid year on NS Redforce after returning from the LPL. Ruler is still Ruler, an amazing cary style ADC player. Finally, Lehends should allow Ruler to play up to his potential after a good year on Afreeca. There is not a single weak point on paper in this Gen.G roster and that should have fans excited.

It will be interesting to see if Gen.G is able to compete to the level that is expected with such an all-star roster.
