In what will certainly be a series-defining event, Santorin will not start against TSM today. The jungler announced on Twitter “I won’t be starting tomorrow due to health reasons. I’ve been dealing with a super intense migraine mixed with a lack of sleep since last Friday…” Team Liquid Academy jungler Armao starts in his place for the best-of-five.

Team Liquid faces TSM to decide which team finishes third place in the Mid Season Showdown, and which team continues to the finals versus Cloud9 tomorrow. The winner of that bout will represent the LCS at the Mid Season Invitational next month. This match-up is pivotal, and, for the first time in roughly one year, players and broadcast talents return to a live venue. The best-of-five takes place at Los Angeles’ Greek Theatre.
Fans saw Armao (formerly Grig/Grigne) on the Rift for Team Liquid’s LCS team earlier this year during the Lock In Tournament. The COVID-19 epidemic delayed Santorin’s arrival to North America. Armao started in their first three matches of Lock In versus CLG, 100 Thieves and Golden Guardians. Team Liquid went 2-1 over those three games, and once Santorin arrived Team Liquid proceeded to win the entire tournament.
No one believes Armao is of the same pedigree of Santorin, so this is an unfortunate turn of events for Team Liquid. They will play with the cards their dealt, and TSM will have to take advantage of the situation. A loss to this hindered TL would certainly sting, and a weak win will bring doubt with them into the finals versus Cloud9. Tune into the competition on April 10 and 11 to see how it plays out.
