Kansas City Chiefs Injury Report Heading Into Week 8

Let’s take a look at some of the injuries the Kansas City Chiefs have dealt with throughout the 2026 NFL season, looking at both sides of the ball and who is out short- and long-term.

The Chiefs enter Week 8 with a 5-1 record and will face their divisional rivals, the Denver Broncos, on the road Sunday as they aim to maintain their hold on first place in the AFC West.

Notable Injuries Throughout the Season

The Chiefs have dealt with some injuries to their receiving corps so far this season, with wide receiver Rashee Rice missing the last two games due to a hamstring injury and Tyquan Thornton being placed on injured reserve with a significant ankle injury in Week 4.

Rice was limited Wednesday and Thursday while managing hamstring and knee injuries but carries no injury designation heading into Sunday’s game, which is great news for Mahomes and the Chiefs’ offense.

Offensive tackle and 2025 first-round pick Josh Simmons has also missed the entire season and was placed on injured reserve with a lower back injury. It’s still unclear when Simmons will return, but in the meantime, Kahlil Benson has started at left tackle.

Defensive tackle Omarr Norman-Lott has been working his way back from a knee injury. Although he was limited Wednesday and Thursday, the Chiefs ruled him out for Sunday’s game.

Week 8 Injury Updates

Norman-Lott is the only player ruled out for Week 8, while three others are listed as questionable.

Cornerback L’Jarius Sneed has been dealing with a knee issue and was a limited participant Thursday and Friday. He’s officially questionable against Denver, and his absence would be a big loss for the Chiefs’ secondary.

Defensive end R Mason Thomas and cornerback Mansoor Delane are also questionable for Week 8. Thomas is listed on the injury report for personal reasons, while Delane is dealing with a shoulder injury.
