Jalen Ramsey attends Jaguars mandatory minicamp, says he’s ready for his best season yet

Mandatory minicamps are upon all 32 NFL teams this week. This is also the time of year where fans become concerned when certain players don’t show up for offseason workouts.

For fans of the Jacksonville Jaguars, that concern revolved around Jalen Ramsey.

Ramsey, the Jaguars third-year All-Pro cornerback, was not a participant for the team’s three weeks of voluntary OTA’s. This caused fans to wonder if one of their star defensive players was unhappy with the team or his contract.

However, that was not the case.

Ramsey showed up on Tuesday for the first day of mandatory minicamp. At his press conference, Ramsey stated that he decided to train with his father instead of the team. In doing this, he feels that he is ahead of schedule in his preparation for the 2018 season. It’s not hard to see why.

In his previous two voluntary OTA camps, Ramsey sustained an injury both years. In his rookie year, he missed all of OTA because of a meniscus tear. Last year, he had a sports hernia and had surgery after minicamp concluded.

“I’m always going to work hard, but I felt like I was behind schedule and I had to work that much harder,” Ramsey said. “I didn’t really feel like I got in the swing of things until during the season instead of kind of hit the ground running as soon as the season starts. I kind of feel like I had a lot of setbacks before the year and even during the year at certain points.”

Before he was done talking, he did offer up a delight to fans….and a warning to the rest of the league.

“If y’all thought I was good in the past two years, then stay tuned.”

With the season under 90 days away, we will see if Ramsey is better than he has been so far.

If that is the case, Ramsey could elevate himself to being considered the best cornerback in the league.
