Having your sweepstakes casino account deactivated is never fun. You get all set up in your favourite chair, grab your snacks and try to log in for a session of gaming when suddenly…
‘Your Account Has Been Suspended.’
Nightmare.
However, what happens when you want to dispute some of those casino charges? Can you still do it now that your account has been deactivated?
Why has my account been suspended?
First of all, let’s get into the nitty-gritty as to why your account has been suspended in the first place. If it’s only a temporary issue, then you may be able to get your account back and solve any issues you have with the casino provider.
Usually, your account can be suspended if the casino believes that there have been some rules broken along the way. Here are a few ‘suspicious’ red flags that may have caused your account to get the axe...
| Too many unsuccessful log-ins | We’ve all been there. You’ve forgotten your password and just keep plugging at it to try and remember what it was. However, to the casino, this comes off as highly suspicious. Your account may be blocked after so many failed attempts as the provider tries to protect you from hackers. |
| Underage activity | If an online casino gets wind that anyone underage is using the account, this will result in an immediate ban, of which there is no coming back from. The legal age varies, but most require you to be 21 and provide proof of this. Your operator can face serious consequences for providing its services to someone underage. |
| Ignoring the T’s & C’s | Terms and conditions are notoriously boring… However, each online casino will have its own, and it’s worth getting to know the full rules of the casino you’re using. Failing to do so can result in suspension if you end up breaking one of these T&C’s. |
So, what to do?
Easy. Drop your casino an email. If you believe you’ve not broken any rules, then a simple email with some proof should get your account up and running again.
Maybe it’s time to chargeback through your credit card company
A chargeback is a simple way to get a refund from a company; you go directly through your bank, rather than the service provider, through the chargeback process. Because of this, even if your account has been suspended, you can still reverse the charge.
Credit card companies play a significant role in the chargeback process, often mediating between the customer and the merchant to resolve disputes.
However, and we cannot state this clearly enough, you can not request a chargeback because you are either mad at the online casino for suspending your account, or because you regret spending the money on their services. This is fraud and banks are pretty clued up about chargeback requests from credit card issuer companies, so you’ll need a legitimate reason to ask for one. The issuing bank represents the interests of the cardholder and handles chargebacks initiated on the grounds of fraud, error, or dispute.
Legitimate reasons to request a chargeback from a sweepstakes casino
| Someone used your card without permission | The most obvious reason is that you didn’t play the games at all! If someone either stole your card or your details, then you have a genuine reason for the dispute. You may also want to cancel your card and look at any other suspicious activity in your bank account or checking account… |
| You believe the casino didn’t provide the service they promised | Were the games rigged? If you believe the games were unfair or rigged in any way then you may have a case for a chargeback. However, you’d have to be pretty certain this is the case and gather proof of this. This can be quite difficult from a user point of view… Proving that the odds they advertised were not the ones you received can be tricky! |
Another issue you may have faced is dealing with a scam casino. Unfortunately, they do exist, and it can be quite difficult to determine whether you’re dealing with a legit site or not. These sites are set up to look exactly like a genuine casino, however, when it comes down to it, you either simply cannot redeem any prizes at the end, or (in the worst cases), they just take your money and run, without providing any games at all. In such cases, having a police report can be crucial to support your dispute. We recommend somewhere like Stake.us for a safe and legitimate experience. They’re also currently running a 200% deposit match up to $1000 and a 10% rakeback!
Chargeback a sweepstakes casino after your account has been deactivated
In short, yes, you absolutely can. A chargeback is completely separate to the casino provider you’ve been dealing with. For example, Chumba Casino is an online casino where players have discussed their experiences with chargebacks and refunds. However, if the question is changed to ‘Should you chargeback a sweepstakes casino after your account has been deactivated?’…well, you will need a very good reason!
A chargeback is completely separate to the online casinos you’ve been dealing with. In the context of online gambling and online gaming, chargebacks can be a complex issue. Initiating too many chargebacks can lead to severe consequences, including being blacklisted in the industry.
When gambling online at sweepstakes casinos, players may face challenges if their account is unexpectedly deactivated, particularly when trying to withdraw funds. In such cases, some may consider contacting their credit card issuer to request a chargeback as a last resort to recover their money. However, the success of a chargeback attempt for a deactivated account can be uncertain, especially if the inability to withdraw funds is due to account closure rather than a processing error.
