Introducing sweepstakes casino bonuses
Ever played at a sweepstakes casino before? If not, there are one or two things you ought to know before claiming your first
sweepstakes bonus
– most notably regarding how these sites differ from standard, “real money” casinos.
In short, sweepstakes casinos
are not
cash-based gaming sites. As we mentioned in our intro, these sites utilize virtual currencies for gameplay purposes instead, usually with a two-level coin system in place, which works a little like this:
| Type of virtual currency |
What is it? |
How can you collect it? |
Can your winnings be redeemed for real prizes? |
| Gold Coins (GC) |
An entertainment-only virtual currency. |
By claiming free GC bonuses, winning at GC-powered games, or making strictly optional GC bundle purchases. |
No. |
| Sweeps Coins (SC) |
A sweepstakes-style virtual currency. |
By claiming free SC bonuses or winning at SC powered games only. |
Yes – SC winnings can be redeemed for real prizes, subject to T&Cs.
Usually, a minimum prize redemption requirement of 50-100 SC applies, while all SC must be played through at least once to be considered redeemable. Naturally, the T&Cs vary from one sweepstakes site to the next. |
If you’re looking for a free welcome bonus, no purchase required casino, sweepstakes casinos are definitely your only option at this point.
The best brands out there will grant you some
free GC and SC
automatically when you first register, followed by access to daily login rewards,
sweepstakes casino referral bonuses, and other fun offers later down the line. While we’ve found that strictly optional GC purchase promotions are often within reach, too.
But how do you go about actually claiming your initial sign-up bonus? Well, let’s take a look, why don’t we?
Claiming a free welcome bonus at a “no purchase required” sweepstakes casino
While all sweepstakes sites set their rules, we’ve found that time and again, you can get your hands on a sweepstakes casino welcome bonus by following just a few easy steps.
Generally, all you need to do is:
- Pick out a sweepstakes casino with a good bonus advertised – like LoneStar Casino, Moonspin, SpinBlitz, RealPrize, or MegaBonanza, for example.
- Click the banner link to your preferred site, which will redirect you to the registration page for your state.
- Hit “Register”, then input a few basic details – think name, address, email, and DOB.
- Accept the brand’s Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, being careful to ensure the site is available where you live.
- Verify yourself via a one-time email passcode and Know Your Customer (KYC) checks, which may require uploading evidence of your ID and proof of address.
- Sign in to activate your bonus.
With LoneStar Casino, Moonspin, SpinBlitz, RealPrize, and MegaBonanza, you won’t need any special promo code to unlock your welcome bonus at the time of writing. And you might even be entitled to
sweepstakes casino VIP bonuses, daily reloads, and other exciting offers targeted at existing customers, too, depending on how frequently you play.

Top sweeps sites and their sign up bonuses – in detail
Curious to learn more about each brand and its bonus offerings? Here’s our take on all that’s up for grabs with each site:
LoneStar Casino – offering the best welcome bonus
Lonestar Casino: Pros and Cons
- Great social games collection
- Familiar Gold Coins and Sweeps Coins
- Good welcome package
- Plenty of social game variety
- Not available in 7 US states
We found that right now at LoneStar, you can get 100,000 GC and 2.5 free SC on sign up without having to jump through any real hoops. There’s no bonus code required, no unusual activation steps, and no abnormally tricky T&Cs to worry about either, aside from the fact that the site’s off limits in WA, CT, ID, NV, NY, MI, and MT.
In our book, then, this is one of the best free welcome bonuses with no purchase required at any sweepstakes casino right now, made even better by LoneStar’s unusually low minimum SC redemption requirement, which sits at just 45 SC if you want to redeem your SC for a gift card. Just note that this is upped to 100 SC for cash prize redemptions, and that a 1x SC playthrough requirement also applies.
Moonspin: Pros & Cons
- No purchase necessary
- Generous promo offers
- Over 1250+ games
- Legal in most US states
- Unavailable in ID, LA, NE, MI, MT, NE, ND, GA, CT, DE, CA, NY, TN, NJ, and WA
Moonspin currently serves up an equally good fun welcome bonus that’s worth up to 60,000 GC and 3 free SC in total. However, this promotion is activated in a very different way from LoneStar’s offer.
Your bonus GC and SC are still free to claim, but we found that Moonspin will dish them out in three separate servings of 20,000 GC and 1 free SC apiece over your first three days of playing here. In qualifying US states, you’ll also get free daily reloads good for an additional 1,000 GC and 0.3 SC so long as you remember to sign into your account at least once daily. So, in all, Moonspin’s a hoot for recurring, free to claim bonuses.
SpinBlitz – offering the best game selection
Spin Blitz: Pros & Cons
- 50+ Megaways slots
- Games from reputable developers like Playson and 3 Oaks Gaming
- Easy-to-use website and app
- Regular social media contests
With anything from slots, megaways, hold and win reels, and social live casino games on offer, SpinBlitz’s game selection is difficult to top in the sweeps world right now. While, of course, we’re also huge fans of the site’s latest bonus, which will get you 7,500 GC and 2.5 free SC when you register.
While this might not be the biggest bonus on today’s list, your free GC and SC can be played on more than 1,000 different Vegas-inspired games here, most of which have been sourced from serious software houses like Playson and 3Oaks. Meanwhile, strictly optional GC purchases start from just $1.99, and the site’s crisp web design is a real dream to navigate.
RealPrize – best for daily reloads
Real Prize: Pros & Cons
- Generous welcome bonus
- No purchase required
- Helpful customer support
RealPrize has an awful lot going for it, bonus-wise. For starters, on top of the 100,000 GC and 2 free SC sign-up bonus you’ll currently receive when registering from an eligible US state, the site also offers free daily reloads – and at some of the best rates in the business.
In the beginning, we found you’ll qualify for 1,500 GC and 0.3 free SC daily. But later, there’s potential to seriously supercharge your daily reload entitlement by enrolling yourself in the brand’s VIP program, with the potential to snag up to 25,000 GC and 5 free SC daily
if
you can level up into the club’s top “Diamond” tier. Pretty epic stuff, eh? Particularly coming from a sweepstakes site that’s available in all US states save for WA, CT, ID, NV, NY, MI, and MT right now.
MegaBonanza – offering the best slots
MegaBonanza: Pros & Cons
- Website is compatible with mobile devices
- Welcome reward and daily offers
- 24/7 customer service
- Live chat available only after GC purchase
Last but by no means least, you can currently claim a free welcome bonus with no purchase required at
this
sweepstakes casino that’s good for 7,500 GC and 2.5 SC, and usable in conjunction with a “150% extra” first GC purchase bonus if you don’t mind opting into a GC buy-in during your first few days of playing.
What’s more, MegaBonanza’s slots games are invariably powered by BetSoft, and other big-name brands, meaning you’ll be gaining access to some of the sharpest, fastest-loading reels and megaways around. Meanwhile, we’re also big fans of the brand’s stellar customer support offering, which features 24/7 live chat and email services.

Sweepstakes casino welcome bonus FAQ
🎉 How do I claim a welcome bonus at a sweepstakes casino?
No two sites are 100% identical in this regard. But generally, you can claim a welcome bonus simply by creating a new customer account, verifying yourself, and then signing in with your newly accepted username and password.
💰 How common are free sign-up bonuses among sweepstakes casinos?
Free welcome bonuses at “no purchase required” sweepstakes casinos are super common, for obvious reasons. Generally, even sites that don’t offer sign-up bonuses tend to offer daily reloads instead. But either way, the offers out there can vary tremendously in terms of size, quality, and T&Cs, with LoneStar Casino, RealPrize, and Moonspin currently offering some of the market’s best bonuses.
Ordinarily, no. Most of the time, you’ll need to visit a sweepstakes site directly to unlock your sign-up bonus. However, following your favorite sweepstakes sites on your socials is still a great idea, as SpinBlitz, MegaBonanza, and others routinely post competitions and giveaways on their X and Instagram accounts.
