A quick introduction to sweepstakes sports betting
Let’s begin by giving you a quick run through of how sweepstakes sports betting works. Here are 10 essential facts you need to know:
- Sweepstakes sports betting allows you to predict the outcomes of sporting events.
- You do this using virtual currencies commonly known as Gold Coins (GC) and Sweeps Coins (SC).
- Whenever you make a prediction, you need to decide which of these two virtual currencies to play with.
- As with real money sportsbooks, you can place a wide variety of bet types, including props, spreads, totals, over/unders and moneylines.
- Gold Coins are only for fun, social betting and you cannot redeem your GC for prizes.
- Sweeps Coins can be exchanged for a prize if you meet specific requirements relating to the amount of SC you have and the number of times you have played them.
- You can pick up GC and SC via no purchase sign up bonuses or via daily promotions.
- You can also top up your Gold Coin account by using real money to purchase a GC package.
- You cannot purchase Sweeps Coins
- There are
legal social sportsbooks
in more than 45 US states, including many that prohibit real money online sports betting.
What is a sweepstakes sports betting app?
A sweepstakes betting app is a mobile application provided by a sweepstakes betting provider. These apps allow you to make sweepstakes betting predictions on your mobile phone or tablet. These apps can be downloaded for free from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
Whilst the traditional online sports betting market is chock-full of incredible mobile apps, sweepstakes betting apps are slightly trickier to find. That being said, as you will see later in this guide, some sweepstakes brands now offer superb, dedicated mobile websites that are as good as many real money betting apps.
Pros and cons of sweepstakes sports betting apps
Pros and Cons
- Free to download and install
- Play for free
- Easy to use
- Dedicated apps are hard to find
Mobile optimized websites: The alternative to sweepstakes sports betting apps
Instead of having a dedicated sweepstakes sports betting app, a lot of
trusted social sportsbooks
provide fully mobile optimized websites that you can access on your phone or tablet via a mobile browser. The best way to do this is by visiting the sweeps sportsbook on your device and adding it to your home screen. This will create an icon on your device that looks the same as an app icon and gives you instant access to your sweeps betting account.

Sweepstakes sports betting apps vs mobile optimized websites
So what’s better? A sweepstakes betting app or a mobile optimized sweeps website? Unfortunately, there’s no concrete answer to that question (sorry for the cop out!), as both options have their own unique benefits:
📱 Three benefits of sweeps betting apps
- Notifications:
A push notification gives you an instant alert on your device whenever there is a key occurrence on your betting app. This means you get real time information on the results of your predictions, as well as news of any new promotions and other important events.
- Exclusive features:
As apps become more and more popular in the betting world, many social sportsbooks now offer app-exclusive promotions and features that website users cannot access.
- User experience:
Sweeps apps give players a more individualised user experience than mobile sweeps betting sites. This is achieved thanks to neat features such as personalized menus and bespoke promos.
🌐 Three benefits of mobile optimized websites
- No downloads:
A key benefit of using a mobile website, as opposed to an app, is that you do not need to download anything to your device and use up any of your precious storage space.
- Compatibility:
Some sweeps betting apps have been made specifically for either Android or iOS. As such, they are only compatible with devices that use that operating system. On the other hand, optimized websites are compatible with virtually all mobile browsers.
- Instant updates:
We’ve all visited the app settings page on our devices and seen that around 400 of our apps need updates. Well, with mobile optimized websites, you don’t need to worry about manually actioning these updates, as everything is updated automatically whenever the site has an upgrade.

Fliff - THE number one sweepstakes sports betting app
Fliff reviews Pros and cons
- Social sportsbook action
- Badges and challenges
- Multiple sports covered
- Sweepstakes available
- Only available in 45 US states
There are more and more
new social sportsbooks
popping up, but in our expert opinion, you cannot beat Fliff for an all-round mobile sweepstakes betting experience. Fliff is an app-only brand, but as their app is available for both Android and iOS, you should have no problem at all downloading it to your device.
Once you’ve got the Fliff app you’re in for an absolute treat. The app is beautifully designed, with incredibly rapid loading times, slick interfaces and user-friendly navigation. More importantly, Fliff is home to a world class selection of competitively priced markets covering a wide array of sporting contests taking place all over the world. Plus, if you use our exclusive GAMEHAUS bonus code when you sign up, you will pick up 1,000 Fliff Coins (Fliff’s version of Gold Coins) and 1 SC as soon as your Fliff account is open.
Legendz - An unbeatable mobile sweeps website
Legendz: Pros & Cons
- Exclusive games
- Live dealer games
- Sweepstakes casino and sportsbook
- Decent welcome offer
- No Legendz app
- No 24/7 live chat
If Fliff is the market leader for sweepstakes sports betting apps, then Legendz takes the crown for the number one mobile optimized sweeps betting website. In fact, such is the quality of the Legendz mobile website, that you could be forgiven for thinking that you are using an actual sweeps betting app.
The Legendz mobile site offers markets for over 30 different sports, including many that you will not find at many other sweeps sites. What’s more, major fixtures in leagues such as the EPL, NFL and NBA, have more than 100 markets attached to them, so regardless of your preferences, Legendz will have your back. New bettors here get 500 GC and 3 SC from the welcome bonus here.
Kickr - Non-stop freeplay opportunities
Kickr Casino: Pros & Cons
- Receive free rewards every 30 minutes
- Generous new player offers
- Top class mobile site
Go to any sweepstakes sports betting site or app and you will see an impressive collection of daily promotions for both new and existing players. However, we firmly believe that Kickr are the market leaders when it comes to sweeps betting bonuses. As well as a lovely no purchase welcome bonus that gives you 150,000 Bits and 4 Bucks (Kickr’s alternative to GC and SC), there is an optional first purchase bonus that gives you 50% extra Bits, plus a VIP program that rewards you every time you make a prediction.
The
daily bonus at Kickr
not only gives you 5,000 Bits and up to 1 Buck every 24 hours, but it also tops up your balance with a Drip Bonus every 30 minutes that ensures you will always have Bits in your account. Like Legendz, Kickr have opted for a mobile website instead of an app, and like Legendz, they have made their mobile site extremely user friendly and highly intuitive.
Sportzino - The choice is yours
Sportzino: Pros & Cons
- Combines the thrill of social sportsbook and casino play
- Realistic sports picks on a wide range of fixtures and events
- Dedicated Android app
Rather than putting all their eggs in one basket, Sportzino have developed a sweeps betting app (available on both Android and iOS) AND a mobile-optimized website. In our opinion, the app has a slight edge, but regardless of how you choose to play, Sportzino will give you a top class sweeps betting adventure.
Another huge positive for Sportzino is the fact that they operate in 46 US states. Whilst it is common to find sweeps sites available in 40+ states, 46 is an exceptionally high number and means that pretty much all (with the exception of Washington, Idaho, Michigan and Georgia residents) sweeps fans can get involved. Join this social sportsbook and you can get up to 170,000 GC and 7 SC from the welcome bonus.
Onyx Odds - Get a great price for your picks
Onyx Odds: Pros and Cons
- Available in 34 states
- Lists all popular US leagues
- Low 20 Onyx Cash minimum redemption
As the name suggests, Onyx Odds places a big emphasis on the quality of their betting odds. In many cases, Onyx Odds offer market leading prices for top sports events, so if you’re looking to get the best possible value for your social bets, Onyx Odds represents a fantastic choice.
Onyx Odds is another sweeps site without a dedicated mobile app, but fear not, their mobile website provides a more than satisfactory alternative that makes sweeps betting an extremely enjoyable activity. Plus, there’s a wonderful welcome bonus that gives you 100 (yes, 100!) free picks when you make your first $10 optional Onyx Coins purchase. You can also get 100 Onyx Coins for free via the welcome bonus.
Novig - Where the fun never stops
Novig is a sweepstakes betting app that awards you a free selection of Novig Coins (You guessed it, it’s their name for Gold Coins) whenever your balance dips below 100 Novig Coins. This simple, but highly effective system ensures that you can always make predictions at Novig, even if you are in the midst of a long losing streak.
As you would expect from an app-only sweeps brand, Novig have put a huge amount of effort into developing a world class mobile sweeps betting platform. The app not only looks superb, but it also performs to a very high standard and is completely free from glitches or system problems. The welcome bonus here will get you 1,000 Novig Coins and 5 Novig Cash.
ProphetX - Go head-to-head with your peers
Finally, here’s a site that’s completely different from the others featured in this guide. ProphetX is a peer-to-peer sweeps betting exchange that enables you to set odds and put your wits against other players. The systems work in a similar way to real money betting exchanges, and thanks to the excellent design of the ProphetX Android app you will be able to get to grips with how it all works in no time at all.
The only slight downside is that ProphetX have not yet developed an iOS app. However, thanks to an exceptionally strong mobile optimized website, Apple users will still be able to enjoy this truly unique sweepstakes betting platform. ProphetX doesn’t have a free welcome bonus, but you can get an 1.5% Prophet Cash rakeback bonus if you make an optional Prophet Point purchase.
Summing up: Download a sweepstakes sports betting app today
As you can see, sweepstakes sports betting apps are relatively thin on the ground compared to their real money counterparts. But don’t let that fact put you off giving sweeps sports betting a try. For a start, the apps featured in this guide are all top-notch and they will give you a wonderful sweeps betting experience, especially if you use our exclusive GAMEHAUS bonus code when joining Fliff. And if you want to join sites like Legendz or Kickr that don’t currently have dedicated mobile apps, don’t worry. The sweeps betting market is also home to plenty of world class mobile websites that are just as good as full-blown mobile apps.
