How is Stake US legal in Texas?
While Texas prohibits traditional online gambling, Stake.us operates legally through a sweepstakes model that complies with state regulations. This innovative approach allows the platform to function in most states where conventional online casinos are restricted.
Texas law doesn't directly address online sweepstakes casinos, and Stake.us accepts Texas players under its no purchase necessary model. It remains prohibited in Arizona, Connecticut, Delaware, Idaho, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Washington, and West Virginia.
Texas residents can freely access Stake.us and enjoy sweepstakes gaming without making purchases. The platform uses two virtual currencies:
Gold Coins
and Stake Cash, both obtainable through various free methods like welcome bonuses, daily logins, and promotional giveaways.
What sets Stake.us apart is its unique currency system. While both virtual currencies enable gameplay, Stake Cash offers an additional benefit - the ability to redeem it for prizes, enhancing the entertainment value of the gaming experience.
The platform's legitimacy stems from its adherence to sweepstakes laws, making it a completely legal entertainment option for Texans seeking casino-style games without real-money gambling components.

How you can legally play at Stake.us sweepstakes casino in Texas
It might be surprising to find that Stake.us is legal in Texas, especially given the state's historical opposition to all forms of regular online gambling. So here are a few of the key reasons why you can play Stake in Texas:
Stake.us is a sweepstakes casino which means that there isn’t any real money gaming involved. Instead, you will be playing with two forms of virtual credit that have no cash value outside of Stake.us.
You don’t directly win money at Stake.us. Instead, you will be given Stake Cash and from here if you get enough Stake Cash through gameplay, you might be able to redeem them for prizes like cryptocurrencies, gift cards and merchandise.
Stake.us has to let you enter its sweepstakes with no purchase necessary in order to abide by the relevant sweepstakes gaming laws. This means that you should always be able to play for free at this quality gaming platform.
While there isn’t any real money gaming at Stake.us, the brand still has to make sure that it enforces a strict minimum age requirement. As a result, you will have to be at least 21 years old to play at this sweepstakes casino. Such information will be checked during the verification procedure.
Stake.us is legal in Texas, but this isn’t the same for other states like Arizona, Connecticut, Delaware, Idaho, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Washington, and West Virginia. Because of this, you’ll have to confirm that you are playing from somewhere in the Lone Star State during the signing up process and may have to submit something like your driver’s license or passport to prove it.

No, playing Stake for real money is not allowed in Texas. As a social casino, Stake does not permit real money gaming on its platform. While players cannot use real money, they can still win prizes and redeem their Stake Cash for real-life rewards.
Stake’s sweepstakes model allows it to operate legally in Texas, where traditional online casinos are not permitted. The platform’s focus on social gaming and virtual currencies ensures that it complies with Texas’s strict gambling laws, providing a safe and regulated environment for players to enjoy online gaming. This means you can dive into the excitement of casino games without the financial risks associated with real money gaming.
Will Stake.us Stay legal in TX? Texas Law and What Could Change in 2027
Texas is known for having some of the strictest gambling laws in the country. Online casinos and sports betting are not licensed here, and gambling offenses are listed in Chapter 47 of the Texas Penal Code. However, Texas law does not specifically mention online sweepstakes casinos, so Stake.us can operate using its no-purchase-necessary approach.
In 2025 the lawmakers came very close to making matters more complicated; although SB 517 was directed at eight-liner machines in game rooms its wide definitions of "gambling device" and "thing of value" could have applied to sweepstakes sites as well and the bill never had a vote on the floor before the session ended.
The Texas Legislature meets only in odd numbered years, which means that the next regular session won't start until January 2027. Should a bill similar to SB 517 be introduced again and passed, players in Texas might find themselves without access, just as players in California, Illinois, and some other states experienced in 2025 and 2026. This page will be updated whenever new bills are presented. If you want more options, see our guide to
