A guide to online Plinko - What is Plinko?
Still not sure what Plinko is all about? Then you're at the right place. We'll explain everything you need to know about this awesome online casino game. If you enjoy straightforward games like slots, then you'll have a swell time playing Plinko.
Plinko is a game in which you drop a ball from the top of a board and watch it fall. At the bottom of the board, there are several multiplier values. The multiplier value your ball lands on determines your potential payout.
So, what's stopping you from targeting a specific multiplier? Well, the Plinko board isn't just a plain board. It has several pins that prevent the ball from dropping in a straight line. These pins form a triangular shape that randomizes the ball's movement, making the game unpredictable.
There are several things we love about Plinko, and its simple gameplay is one of them. This makes it a hit with newbies and veteran casino players. Additionally, Plinko is a fast-paced game that lets you play up to 100 rounds per minute. However, you do need a fat wallet and a high mouse click rate to make this work.
| General Plinko information |
| Volatility or risk level | Adjustable (Low to Expert) |
| Number of rows | Adjustable (8 - 16 on most games) |
| Return to player (RTP) | Up to 99% |
| Max multiplier | 10,000x, but can vary |
| Minimum bet | $0.10, but it can vary, with some crypto sites accepting a lower amount |
Understanding the Plinko rules
Plinko games don't have any complex rules like poker or baccarat. So, you're good to go even if it's your first time playing it. However, we will try to break down various aspects of the game so you'll understand how to play Plinko online for real money within a few minutes:
As we explained earlier, Plinko is a game in which you drop a ball into the board and watch it make its way to the bottom. There are several settings you can adjust that will affect how the gameplay turns out. We'll talk more about these settings later, so let us move on.
Contrary to what you'll see on your screen, the Plinko board isn't square. While the game has a square background, the actual play area or Plinko board is formed by the pins on your screen. These are usually in a triangular pattern with multiple rows, just like the Pascal triangle, if that helps you understand it better.
The Plinko prize pots refer to the multiplier values at the bottom of the board. According to the Plinko rules, when a ball lands in any of these prize pots, the multiplier value is used to calculate your potential payout. The values you find on these prize pots will vary depending on the game design and risk level.
Just like in slot games, Plinko games have a risk level or volatility. However, what makes them unique is that you can adjust the risk level as you see fit. On most Plinko games we've tried, you have two ways of adjusting the risk level. One option is to change the difficulty, and the other is to change the number of rows. The difficulty ranges from low to expert, with lower difficulty offering much lower volatility than expert. By changing the number of rows, you can reduce or increase the distance the ball has to travel before getting to a prize pot. However, with fewer rows, there is less randomness, so much lower potential payouts.
🔍 Fairness of Plinko games
One of the things that matters when playing any online casino game is fairness, and this is where many online Plinko games shine. Although some titles use the regular random number generators (RNGs), many popular Plinko options are Original games with a provably fair feature. Original games typically refer to titles developed in-house by an operator, many of which are crypto-based casinos. The provably fair feature is popular on crypto-based casinos, and it allows you to verify the randomness and fairness of any game round you play. This is usually available on Plinko games, so you can check if your previous game round was truly random or the result of in-house manipulation by the casino operator.
When going through the rules of Plinko from various developers, you'll notice that this online casino game has a very high RTP of up to 99% on most sites. This means that for every $100 wagered, the game will return up to $99 as winnings to players. Of course, that doesn’t mean you’ll see that return rate over individual playing sessions. RTP rates are measured over millions of rounds, and volatility plays a big role in your individual experience as well.

There are several online casinos where this game is available, and you can check any of the sites we recommend by clicking our banners. After setting up an account and launching the Plinko title, these are the steps you'll need to take to play the game:
-
Select a mode: Most Plinko games let you choose between manual and auto modes. For this initial guide, we'll be focusing on the manual option.
-
Enter a bet amount: Of course, you'll need to place a bet to enter a game round. Most operators allow low bet amounts from $0.1, but you must confirm what is available on any site you visit.
-
Choose a difficulty: Depending on the operator, you can set a low, medium, hard, or expert difficulty. Low difficulty means low volatility, and most operators have a 0.5x minimum multiplier on this difficulty. On expert difficulty, you can get up to a 10,000x multiplier, but most times, you're getting between 0.1 - 1.1x.
-
Adjust the number of rows: This allows you to change the number of pins on the board. You can typically select 8 to 16 rows, but with fewer rows, your maximum win multiplier is lower.
-
Click the Bet button: After completing your setup, you can click the Bet button to drop a ball. You can keep clicking the button to drop more balls, without waiting for others to get to the bottom.
To complete our online Plinko guide, we also need to explain how the Auto mode works. Unlike the manual mode, where you have to keep clicking to drop more balls, the Auto mode allows you to set a number of bets. The number of bets determines how many balls you want to drop, and the game automatically drops them for you.
