Civ 7 has a new gameplay feature that compliments its new Ages, called Advanced Start. This allows players to seamlessly start games of Civ 7 in the Exploration Age or the Modern Age, rather than having to start completely from scratch in Antiquity. Here’s a full breakdown of how this works, including community gameplay.
To play an Advanced Start game, players will simply select this as an option when they go to start any game of Civ 7. This can be single-player or multiplayer.
Doing so will have you start off with a pre-made Capital city and give players points to spend on the things that they would have otherwise earned throughout previous ages of gameplay. Things like an army, other Cities, Towns, Civics, Technology, Walls, and many other options. These are called Legacies. Once you have selected the things you want, you get to then choose where on the map to place them (when applicable) and begin your playthrough!
In the Exploration Age, players are given seven Legacy Points to spend on upgrades, and we imagine you would be given even more for a Modern Age start.

Civilization content creator Ursa Ryan has a playthrough showing this off more in-depth on his channel if you’d like to see more before the game’s launch. Otherwise, you will have a chance to try out Advanced Start for yourself when Civ 7 officially launches on February 11th.
