Arguably the biggest change to Civ 7 is the introduction of Ages, which will divide games of Civ 7 into three distinct pieces. The three Ages of the game, which we will look at more in-depth here, are the Antuiqty Age, Exploration Age, and Modern Age. These also give players the opportunity to hop into a game at the beginning of each respective age, allowing for a whole new way to play.
Most players will begin their first Civ 7 game in the Antiquity Age, where they will be founding early settlements, creating their first units, and exploring the area around them. This will continue until all of the requirements have been met for all players in the game to advance to the Exploration Age. The same transition happens from the Exploration Age to the Modern Age, which is the final of the three ages. These milestones for progressing each age are not yet fully known, but all have to do with the different Legacy Paths, which players will be working towards throughout the game, replacing the old win condition system.

Once you have these basics down and are keeping the Legacy Path tracker in mind while you are playing, Civ 7’s Ages should start to feel much more manageable. Good luck on getting your first victory!
