Playing lottery games online has changed a lot over the past few years. For West Virginia players, the West Virginia Lottery’s iPLAY platform now makes it straightforward to access draw games and iNSTANT games from a phone or computer – no trip to a retailer required.
But if you’re new to playing online, or you’re weighing up what’s actually available digitally versus in-store, here’s what you can expect.
What you can play online
On iPLAY, you can play draw games like POWERBALL©, MEGA MILLIONS®, LOTTO AMERICA©, Daily 3, and Daily 4. The newly launched Millionaire for Life™ – a national draw game with daily drawings and the chance to win $1,000,000 a year for life – is also available through iPLAY, released February 22, 2026.
iNSTANT games are the digital equivalent of Scratch-Offs. You see your result on screen immediately, generated by a secure random number generator.
Scratch-Off tickets aren’t available to purchase online. You can scan physical scratch-offs in the app to earn PlayON loyalty points, but the tickets themselves are sold only at licensed WVL retailers. Similarly, Ca$h Pop, KENO, KENO GO, and KENO GO BONUS are in-store only games.
How Scratch-Offs compare when you do play in-store
West Virginia Lottery Scratch-Offs run from $1 up to $30, with popular options at $5, $10, $20, and $30. Each price point is structured differently. Higher-tier tickets tend to come with larger top prizes, more prize levels, and additional play areas built into each ticket.
If you’re weighing up whether to go higher, it helps to know what you’re comparing. The question of whether are $30 scratch offs worth it depends on what you’re looking for – $30 tickets carry top prizes up to $300,000 and broader prize structures, while lower-tier options give you more variety across multiple tickets. There’s no single right answer. It’s a personal choice based on your play style and budget.
All Scratch-Offs are eligible for PlayON points. Scanning your tickets through the app can enter you into second-chance promotions and loyalty drawings.
Features available on iPLAY
Playing online through iPLAY comes with a few built-in tools worth knowing about. You can set player-controlled deposit limits directly in your account, and PayPal is now accepted as a payment option, alongside other standard methods.
For draw game players, the Jackpot Threshold Auto Renewal feature lets you set a jackpot amount for POWERBALL©, MEGA MILLIONS®, or LOTTO AMERICA©. When the jackpot hits your chosen threshold, tickets are purchased automatically. It’s a “set it and forget it” option for those who don’t want to track every drawing manually.
The West Virginia Lottery mobile app is available through the App Store for iPhone users. Android users need to download it directly through the West Virginia Lottery’s website.
