Before you decide where to buy the game, it helps to understand exactly what each version includes. MW 4 will be available in several editions, and the differences go beyond price alone, especially if you are considering preorder bonuses or additional digital content.
There are three main options:
Standard Edition includes the base game, while Vault Edition adds premium digital content including the Hostile Alliance Operator Pack, Special Forces Operator Pack, Signature Weapon Collection, one season of BlackCell, and a DMZ Deployment Bonus.
Vault Edition is digital-only.
Current US PC pricing lists:
Regional pricing varies by platform, country, currency, and taxes.
Players with an eligible digital Standard Edition can upgrade to Vault Edition. Physical Standard Editions are not eligible for that upgrade.
Eligible digital preorders include Campaign Early Access starting October 16, 2026, one week before the full release.
Additional bonuses depend on the edition and platform.
Qualifying owners of previous Call of Duty games can also receive a 10% preorder loyalty discount on Vault Edition. The discount applies only to eligible players and does not apply to Standard Edition.
Standard Edition is the simpler choice if you mainly want the base game.
Vault Edition is aimed at players who already value its operator packs, BlackCell content, weapon collection, and DMZ bonuses.
With a current US price difference of $30, the decision mainly comes down to whether you would use those extras.

This is especially important on digital marketplaces, where listings can differ by seller and activation method.
Modern Warfare 4 is not planned for Game Pass at launch, so if you want to play from release day, plan around buying the game rather than assuming it will be included with a subscription.
