In a historic deal, Xbox has announced that it will acquire Activision Blizzard. The buyout amount was initially reportedly $50 Billion according to the Wall Street Journal. Now it is said to be closer to $70 Billions. This acquisition will be more than just Activision and Blizzard. It will include, “Activision Publishing, Blizzard Entertainment, Beenox, Demonware, Digital Legends, High Moon Studios, Infinity Ward, King, Major League Gaming, Radical Entertainment, Raven Software, Sledgehammer Games, Toys for Bob, Treyarch and every team across Activision Blizzard”. Here is more on the historic deal.

There has been a lot happening at Activision Blizzard in the last few years. Most of it has not been good. Between the sexual harassment, walkouts and so much more, many were wondering what would happen to Activision Blizzard? Now it is clear that with Xbox taking over and reporting directly to CEO Phil Spencer, many of the games titles that are being worked on may see some new life.

On the Activision Blizzard side in terms of games, fans of Diablo and Overwatch will likely be excited. These two games have been in development for a long time and have been getting pushed back constantly. With the resources from Xbox, a small delay will likely be expected as new people may take over certain projects, but under Xbox and Microsoft, the hope will be that these two giant games will come out sooner than expected.

As for Xbox and Microsoft, this deal is likely a no-brainer. There have been many that have felt that Xbox has lacked exclusives for many years. While most the games being worked on now will likely not be exclusives, the creative teams at Activision Blizzard may help to bring great new titles that Xbox fans have been wanting for years.

No one knows the specifics of this deal just yet but it is one that certainly will take the gaming world by storm and create a myriad of new questions.
