Following the relatively disappointing and drawn-out second part of Phase 3, many WoW Classic: Season of Discovery players have been anxiously anticipating Phase 4, which unlocks practically all base game content up to Molten Core. However, after spending so much time in Phase 3, it might be difficult to choose what to emphasize when moving on to the next phase.
This guide will go over some tips to help you get your bearings and get started in Phase 4 efficiently. Keep reading to learn how to collect newly available Runes, which Attunement questlines you can start while leveling, which areas are available, and what you can do to make your life easier while getting back into the swing of SoD. We will answer all these questions further in this post.
Farm Gold to Purchase Your Epic Mount at 60
One of the most anticipated parts of SoD Phase 4 is a significant increase in Mounted Speed with max-level Epic Mounts. These give 100% enhanced Movement Speed, up from 60% for Level 40 Mounts. However, training and purchasing one of these fast mounts might be prohibitively expensive for anybody who did not use Gold-farming tactics early in Phase 3.
The trip from 50 to 60 may be lengthy, but with SoD XP boosts and strong new Rune possibilities. You won’t have as much time to build up enough SoD gold to purchase the cost of an Epic Mount as you would in Era. As of writing, we do not know if the cost of your Epic Mount and training will be decreased from its vanilla total of 1000g. However, based on the cost drop for mounts in Phase 2, it is more than likely to occur at some time during the phase.
Save your gold, avoid needless purchases, and consider waiting a week or two to see if the price drops. Another 40% increase in movement speed may not sound like much, but if you’re the only Level 60 without one, you’ll feel the difference immediately as others race by you in the open world (and in PvP).
Update Your Addons and Clear Your Old Quests and Bags
Before you run WoW SoD and enter Phase 4, be sure to update your addons. The great majority of WoW SoD players utilize addons to improve their UI, make it simpler to know which skills to use at what moment, and generally customize the game to meet their requirements. Some mods even make it simpler to slot new Runes gathered in SoD since the default interface is a little weak. However, if you do not update your addons to the newest patch, your modifications may not be carried over.
To avoid having to exit and re-enter the game, just check your addon sites for updates, or use an addon manager to conveniently update all of your addons at once. When you log in to the game and have a character of the maximum 50 level ready to go, the first thing you should do is empty your bags of stuff that are no longer useful. Items that you don’t want to spend time completing, such as those for the Mantle of Nightmares questline or those that only function in Phase 3 content, may be removed.
For example, unless your guild intends to run Sunken Temple more than a few times on the way to 60, you may remove any remaining Flasks of Mojo consumables since they are only useful during the raid. Any leftover Atal’ai Mojo may be sold on the AH, but prices will undoubtedly fall as more people out-level Sunken Temple.
Level up in Dungeons or Zones and Begin Attunement Questlines
After clearing your luggage and mission list, you can finally play the game. There is so much to do on the path to max level that it’s difficult to know where to begin. Due to the SoD improvements, the classic solid questing paths across the Plaguelands, Searing Gorge, Blasted Lands, Burning Steppes, and other max-level zones remain excellent for XP and cash.
However, these zones are expected to be very competitive, at least in the first few weeks. If you want to go to max level quicker without worrying about obtaining the first tag on a creature for quests and XP, join a dungeon group and repeat runs of Blackrock Depths until you reach about Level 55 or 56. After that, go to Lower Blackrock Spire and Upper Blackrock Spire around 58. It should lead you to the maximum level without ever accessing the open world.
If you want to optimize your leveling early on, try joining a Sunken Temple party. This level-up raid will be worthwhile until the mid-50s. Even with the adjustments for P4, incursions continue to provide a lot of XP and are definitely worth going out of your way for. However, since they are now Daily, they are only another means to get XP, rather than your major leveling method like they were in P3.
Collect New Runes and Find Specialized Runes
Every class gets at least three new main Runes to experiment with, but there are also a large number of common Skill Specialization Runes that may be utilized by many classes. The new ability-granting Runes in Phase 4 may be placed on the Cloak slot, while the latter can be placed on both of your Rings.
The Cloak Slot Runes in P4 follow the same unlock techniques as other Runes we’ve discovered, which are typically related to brief puzzles or special Class tasks. However, all of the Ring Slot Runes may be unlocked by collecting appropriate Class Books across the globe. These may be found all over the place. So spend some time researching your new Rune locations and making a list of a few very precise areas to unlock all of your new Class Specialization Runes.
Now, You Are Ready for Season of Discovery Phase 4
Hopefully, now you can swiftly dive into Phase 4 of the Season of Discovery and know the key activities to kickstart this phase. Follow the above tips to simplify your gameplay and make it more fun and efficient.
