The cult classic puzzle oozing game World of Goo is finally getting a sequel aptly named World of Goo 2. This was a surprise to many after the original game game out over fifteen years ago. Many had been hoping developers 2D Boy would make another and they are now getting their wish. With that, fans will be wondering, is World of Goo 2 multiplayer?

Sadly, World of Goo 2 will not be Multiplayer.
While some puzzle games like World of Goo 2 have had multiplayer, this one will be a single-player game just like the original World of Goo. There was a chance they would consider it when creating this new game. Especially considering party and multiplayer games are so popular now with the Switch and in general. But it looks like they decided against it.
The World of Goo 2 Release Date will be on May 23, 2024.
At least, that is the hope. There have been a few games getting their release dates pushed back lately and it has been happening even within a month of the actual release. With games going more to digital releases it makes it easier to not worry about a release date if they need to fix things. They are able to move things back a few weeks and not have to worry about the physical copies getting to the production line.
As of right now, World of Goo 2 will not be on Xbox Game Pass.
This is because, to a certain degree, World of Goo is a Nintendo Franchise. The original game was initially released only for the Nintendo Wii and was part of a new program called WiiWare. Then it was released on PC, Mac and the Nintendo Switch. This seemingly gave it new life and lead to fans to want a new version of the game.
With the way Xbox Game Pass is now, there is always a chance World of Goo 2 could be on it in the future. This is because it will be on PC during its release and if it does well Xbox may try to get it on their Game Pass. This is especially true since Nintendo does not consider it as one of its top franchises.
The World of Goo 2 gameplay will likely be very similar to the original game.
For players who do not remember, the goal of the game is to get the Goo Balls to the pip which is essentially the exit. To do this, you have to solve puzzles by building structures that help the goos get over obstacles and through even certain maze-like areas.
The sequel will see all of this return and so far has shown off a Goo Cannon and a way to change the terrain with Brown Goo. All of this has certainly excited fans of the series and hopefully will draw in new players as well.
