When is the next Blizzcon?

Publish Date: October 11, 2020

Due to COVID-19, everything that was scheduled in terms of live events has come to a screeching halt. Unfortunately, Blizzcon was also caught in the line of fire. Because of this, Blizzcon 2020 was officially canceled. For many, this is an extremely important event not only to see friends but also to receive updates on fan-favorite games. These games include specifically some esports but most notably, Overwatch, Hearthstone, Diablo, World of Warcraft and more.

For at least three of these major titles, many were expecting big announcements at Blizzcon 2020. Specifically, fans were looking at Overwatch 2, Diablo 4 and World of Warcraft Shadowlands. For Overwatch 2, the last announcement of any kind was at Blizzcon 2019, since then there has been radio silence.

Now people are wondering, due to COVID, when will the next Blizzcon happen?

Luckily, Blizzard has prepared for this and while they did cancel Blizzcon 2020, they are making it up to fans in the form of Blizzconline. This will be the online version of Blizzcon and it will be coming in early 2021. The exact dates will be February 19 and 20, 2021.

What to Expect at the Event

It seems likely that the major reveals and announcements for major title games like Overwatch 2 and Diablo 4 will happen during this event. That is definitely good and likely also bad in some ways. For many, they had hoped that these games would have come out by February 2021. Likely COVID has had an impact on the release dates and so much more. Hopefully, Blizzconline 2021 will provide much-needed updates.

For those that are wishing they could be at Blizzcon, there will be a virtual experience. Fans will still be able to send in Cosplay, Art and videos for the March of the Murlocs. The deadline for these will be January 4, 2021. So if interested, make sure to go and signup as soon as possible.

Overall this might be one of the most important Blizzcons in quite awhile. The games and comradery of being online will not be as fantastic as being in California. But, Blizzconline is definitely better than no Blizzcon at all.
