Back in May, Bungie told gamers to get their goodbyes ready, announcing that after 9 years, it would end active development of Destiny 2. The last content update scheduled was Monument of Triumph, which arrived on June 9. That was until Poria Torkan, Bungie’s Studio Head, and Josh Deane, Head of Product and General Manager of Marathon, changed their minds and announced: “We are not done with Destiny.” Bungie officially revealed its plans to restore Destiny 2 Vaulted Content and bring the franchise back from the dead. This means gamers can download the free-to-play title and, for free, can play all of Destiny 2’s campaigns and raids that have been inaccessible for years. This raises an obvious question: when exactly does the Destiny 2 Vaulted Content Become Free for everyone?
Following the announcement, Bungie said the team is beginning work to bring vaulted Destiny 2 campaigns, destinations, and raids back into the game, where they will be available to all Destiny 2 players. As of right now, there is no confirmed date for when vaulted content will be made free to all players. Bringing this content back takes time, as the team needs to update lighting, encounters, combatants, and other underlying systems to meet today’s Destiny 2 stability and gameplay standards. Details will roll out over the coming months, so stay tuned.
