Top 7 Best Civ 7 Mods You NEED to Try!

Publish Date: June 24, 2025

With the arrival of Update 1.2.2, Civilization 7 finally has Steam Workshop support. This means that Mods are easier than ever to add to your game to help you create the experience you want. To help you out, here are our Top 7 Best Civ 7 Mods that you need to try in this first week!

Top 7 Best Civ 7 Mods

Before we dive into this Top 5 Best Civ 7 Mods, keep in mind that there will be a surge of new Mods added. If you enjoy this list, we are more than happy to make a second one. Also keep in mind that some Mods may not work with others. If that happens, disable them and try again. Mind the release date and let’s jump into it.

We did make another Civ 7 Mods List when the game came out and some of those mods will likely find their way to Steam. Feel free to check that one out as well.

7. Unlock All Mementos

Created by XiaoXiaocat, this mod eliminates the grind required to obtain mementos. Mementos in Civilization 7 often require tedious achievements or playing as specific leaders. This mod unlocks them all instantly, offering players full flexibility to customize their game experience without limitations. Whether someone is new to the game or simply uninterested in pursuing every single in-game objective, this mod makes min-maxing and strategic planning far more accessible.

6. Random Continents

Developed by Duk1Duk3, Random Continents improves Civ 7’s map generation by enhancing natural landmass variation. This mod refines the scripting to create jagged coastlines, realistic gulfs, inland waterways, and better river systems—addressing a key criticism that maps often feel too grid-like or artificial. It maintains navigable rivers and strategic layout while offering a more immersive, organic world. Compatibility is high, with no reported mod conflicts.

5. Map Trix

Map Trix by beezany is a powerful UI upgrade that reveals detailed tile data at a glance. Simply hovering over a tile now displays terrain hazards, population yields, settlement affiliations, attitudes, improvements, buildings, and more. This quality-of-life improvement gives players more strategic insight, especially during city planning or military campaigns. The mod supports multiple languages, including German, Italian, Korean, Russian, and both versions of Chinese, making it globally accessible and essential for deep strategists.

4. City Hall

Also crafted by beezany, the City Hall mod overhauls city interface panels to deliver critical urban data more clearly and beautifully. It allows players to track urban and rural population distribution, specialist growth, warehouse bonuses, and connection links between cities. While Civilization 7 includes some of this data by default, this mod elevates its presentation, offering a cleaner and more intuitive view of how cities function and grow. This becomes a must-have tool for empire management and efficient expansion.

3. Matt’s Leaders: Leonardo da Vinci

From Matt’s Leaders comes a full-fledged new leader mod featuring Leonardo da Vinci. As a unique and historical addition to the Civ 7 roster, da Vinci is brought to life with an original animated 3D model, custom mementos, unique units like the Steam Cannon, and specialized civics. This mod showcases the potential of custom leader design and provides a refreshing gameplay twist. Matt has also created additional leaders, including Ireland and Scotland, and appears committed to expanding this collection further.

2. Resource Re-sorts

Developed by beezany ocne again, Resource Re-Sorts streamlines how players manage and view resources across cities and settlements. The mod allows sorting by name, yield, or total resource slots and includes toggleable views for cities and towns. Visually, it presents resource management in a much clearer format, making it easier to optimize and plan economic growth. With widespread positive feedback and strong early ratings, this mod is expected to become a staple in most players’ loadouts.

1. Detailed Map Tacks

Topping the list is Detailed Map Tacks by WLTK, a must-have utility mod that dramatically improves planning and placement. This tool previews tile yields and adjacency bonuses directly on map tacks, helping players find the optimal location for wonders, buildings, and districts. It also includes hotkeys for toggling tack visibility and auto-deletes tacks once the improvement is constructed. While there’s a limitation—map tacks don’t persist across ages—this is expected to improve once Civ 7’s API evolves. For now, it’s an invaluable asset to any player seeking precision in planning and layout.
