The Winners and Losers of the May 19 Deadlock Update

Deadlock developers have released a massive follow-up patch to the game’s most recent Shop update, featuring a litany of balance changes for nearly every item in the game, and even some heroes. Here is our full breakdown of the changes and who came out of the patch most battered and bruised.

Deadlock May 19 Patch Winners

Radiant Regeneration

This new item comes as an upgrade to Mystic Regeneration, which received a slight nerf in this update, no longer scaling with Spirit Power. However, this new Tier 3 upgrade looks to be a solid item and may immediately make an impact.

Radiant Regeneration specs:

Dealing damage to enemy heroes grants you +5 HP regen (with 0.04 spirit scaling) for 5s.
On ability cast, heals you for +100 and provides +2 Move Speed for 3s.
Cooldown 6s.

Off Meta Heroes & Items

Just about every item that was not popularized prior to this update received some small form of a buff here. Cultist Sacrifice, Cheat Death, Restorative Shot, and so many others like these have seen some love in this patch and should be looked at more overall.

The same applies to heroes. No heroes were buffed directly here, but the nerfs mentioned previously and the major item changes should see a rotation of some new heroes at the top of most tier lists.

Deadlock May 19 Patch Losers

Shiv & Lady Geist (and Vyper, Wraith, and Warden)

Both Shiv and Lady Geist were hit directly with nerfs to counteract their recent success in the meta. Each has had several areas of their kit nerfed and should have a more difficult time dominating games.

Other heroes mentioned above were negatively affected, too, but these two seemed to have it particularly hard.

Lady Geist changes:

Health per boon reduced from 86 to 82
Essence Bomb self damage spirit scaling increased from 1.3 to 1.6
Life Drain cast range reduced from 20m to 18m

Shiv changes:

Move Speed reduced from 7 to 6.8
Health per boon reduced from 81 to 77
Base gun damage reduced from 4.95 to 4.6

Meta Healing Items

Healing seemed to be a target in this patch, with several healing items getting tuned back or completely nullified. Boundless Spirit no longer heals, Healing Tempo was nerfed, Healing Booster was nerfed, and so was Healing Nova.

As such, look for other healing items’ usage to go up, like Restorative Locket, Restorative Shot, and others that were buffed.
