For beginner Deadlock players, the choice of what hero to play can be an intimidating one. But, there are a few heroes that are much easier to play than others, and should help you to provide value to the team while still learning the game. Here are our top three picks.
Seven has nearly always been solid in the Deadlock meta game due to his kit being able to do a number of things. You can scale his ultimate, Storm Cloud, to do massive damage across a wide area, or you can use his Power Surge if you fancy your aim. Either way, Seven gets you in the door in most cases, has great AOE damage, and only really lacks an escape tool.

One word – turrets. McGinnins has turrets she can throw down that can destroy minions and give you great damage in team fights with proper preparation. She also has a nice heal, which can be crucial in those early game brawls and is a nice crutch to lean on while you get better at avoiding taking damage. If you like the idea of preparing a bit for fights, getting value out of auto damage, and some other nice tools in her toolkit, try out McGinnis!

Kelvin can do a lot in any given game of Deadlock. He can heal teammates for absurd amounts, like we say in Deadlock Fight Night #27, he can chain damage with his Arctic Beam, and he has a nice mobility tool in his back pocket with Ice Path. His ultimate, Frozen Shelter, can be used to guarantee Urn turn-ins and is widely considered to be among the best in the game due to its wide usage potential. So, if you tend towards a playstyle that heals and supports allies, while still being able to dish out some damage, consider Kelvin!
All in all, other heroes in Deadlock can be easy to use as well, but it will likely take you some games to find what playstyle works best for you. Bot games are great ways to test this out if you are a true beginner; don’t be afraid to use them.
