First things first, the big Yoshi is located at Yo’ster Isle, However, it’s not a place players have immediate access to. To first get to Yo’ster Isle complete the Forest Maze and receive the second Star Piece. To make the little chunker appear, Bowser and Peach must be recruited to the party and Bundt and Raspberry must’ve been defeated in Marrymore. The baby Yoshi will spawn sitting in a pile of eggs. Feed them a minimum of 30 Yoshi Cookies over time, and once players return to the Isle they’ll be greeted by the chunky boy.
The Yoshi isn’t purely aesthetic. The Yoshi when spoken to will begin to ask for cookies, a lot of cookies. When giving Yoshi cookies, he will actually give players reward items depending on how many cookies they have eaten.
Getting Yoshi Cookies isn’t necessarily hard but it does take a bit of gambling and luck. Bet cookies on the Mushroom Derby. If players really want to control the outcome they can ride Yoshi themselves during the races.
