Marketed as a single player space odyssey, Starfield has been years in the making. And with the release date of Starfield is encroaching, and hype is at an all time high. Players are so excited, in fact, that the game’s sales have beat out the critically acclaimed Baldur’s Gate 3 on Steam — securing the rank of the top seller.
This figure was taken from Steam, was organized by the revenue, and was limited to the United States. Priced at $69.99, Starfield’s prepurchase option seems immensely popular already.
This figure will likely only increase once the game officially releases, and therefore will unlikely be displaced by any other game on Steam. Of course, this assumes the game launches with no major game breaking bugs, and reviews for the game promote more purchases rather than discourage consumers.

Keep in mind, this sale revenue figure is purely for Steam sales. In other words, it doesn’t include console revenue.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is an immensely successful RPG game, which immensely surpassed expectations and set new standards for the gaming industry. Therefore, having another big name release so soon after Baldur’s Gate 3 has caused celebration among the community.
“Honestly, it’s just so wonderful that we’ve got games like Starfield and BG3 coming out. My only real problem is not enough time to spend playing both… Truly a surfeit of gaming riches!” one redditor rejoices.
“This really is a great year as an RPG fan,” another replies, adding onto the celebration.
