Sonic Origins Release Date

Leading up to Sonic The Hedgehog’s anniversary, Sega announces the release date of Sonic Origins, a remaster of retro collections from the past.

Sonic Origins will be a port of old classical sonic games from the past. Instead, Sonic Origins will include the remastered collection of Sonic The Hedgehog 1, Sonic The Hedgehog 2, Sonic The Hedgehog 3, Sonic & Knuckles, and Sonic CD. With these newly remastered titles will also come the addition of new achievements, collectibles, new visuals, and game modes.

One of those game modes includes a mission mode which players can complete to earn in-game medallions. These medallions will get items at the vault in the game. Some items can include new game modes and special stages. In Sonic Origins players will be able to choose between playing in classic mode or anniversary mode. While in classic mode, players will play Sonic Origins in its traditional style and experience the games how they would if they played them in the past. The original aspect ratios will be included as well. With anniversary mode gamers are given a new widescreen experience along with infinite lives to give a more casual experience. Additionally, each of the old classical Sonic games will also have the addition of brand new opening and ending animations.
