Resident Evil, created by Capcom, is a video game series that defines today’s popular horror survival and zombie genre. After the first game got released in 1996, the company is still releasing new ones.
Resident Evil is the best-selling horror game franchise of all time, and the new Resident Evil Village is one of the sought-after games amongst new and veteran players for a reason. Capcom never seems to disappoint us, so the new game follows the tradition. We listed some exciting information below, without any spoilers, for all the Resident Evil fans.
Resident Evil Village got released on May 7, 2021. for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and Stadia. Resident Evil RE: Verse, an online six-person multiplayer mode, is delayed and will be released in 2022. Although the new game in the series just came out, it has got announced that Resident Evil 9 will be released, and it will follow up the story from The Village.
It will also be interesting to see if Capcom will release this title for their slot machines. Some of you are maybe familiar with this, but Capcom is also known for manufacturing electronic game machines. Not surprisingly, because of the Resident Evil series’s great success, we ended up with a slot machine for the fans (you can check some of them here – slots Canada). One of the most popular ones was the Biohazard pachinko model, and you can also come across a couple of working in-game slot machines, the first that comes to mind is in the Resident Evil Resistance.
The game takes place a few years after the events in Resident Evil 7. Ethan Winters and his wife Mia moved with their daughter Rose to Europe to live in peace. But tragedy befalls them again. After Chris Redfield attacked their home, Ethan had to go down the risky road to rescue his kidnapped daughter.
Ethan arrives in a dangerous village full of vicious werewolf-like creatures and other bizarre and scary people. The ruler of the Village is Mother Miranda, and she has four lords who serve her. There’s also Alcina Dumitrescu, the vampire mistress of the castle, and the Duke, a mysterious man who helps us throughout the game.
Unlike other games in the series, this game has a greater focus on action. It centers around shooting and allows upgrading guns and buying ammo. Also, unlike the Baker family’s territory, the Village can be widely explored and has detours to discover. The main character also has better combat skills. Other new features include a button for skipping cutscenes and photo mode, allowing players to screenshot in-game moments.
Like Resident Evil 7, the new game is played from a first-person perspective and has the same basic controls. On the other hand, similar to Resident Evil 4, the player is thrown right into the action instead of slow progression. Another similarity is the option to make barricades to defend yourself from the enemy. The arcade-style game mode named Mercenaries Mode has also returned to the new game.
The Village, set in Europe, has a Victorian-era look, perfect for a horror atmosphere. The castle is full of locked doors and hidden keys, and you’ll have to find your way out. But outside the court, you’ll encounter werewolves and other creatures. The visuals in the game are stunning, so you’ll enjoy the view until something or someone comes around the corner.
