With the game’s presentation at The Game Awards 2025, there’s no doubt that gamers are heavily anticipating Resident Evil Requiem. There are new and old characters, new horrors to encounter, but it’s the same survival horror series at heart. With a whole lot of new to keep track of, here’s everything that gamers need to know before the Resident Evil Requiem release date on February 27, 2026, for Xbox Series S/X, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
Regarding the Resident Evil Requiem story, we have two main protagonists. The first is Grace Ashcroft. Even with the showcases and leaks, there actually isn’t too much to know about her. From what we do know is that her mother, Alyssa Ashcroft, was an investigative reporter and survivor of the Raccoon City incident in 1998. She’s more notable for her appearance in Resident Evil: Outbreak. Grace witnessed her mother get murdered, and 8 years later, she is now in the FBI as an intelligence analyst. She was soon assigned to a case at an abandoned hotel in the same location where the murder occurred.
At the same time, the previous Resident Evil protagonist Leon Kennedy is sent to the same hotel to investigate his own string of deaths, and the two paths intertwine. One can only imagine what horrors await them both.
Game Description:
“A new era of survival horror arrives with Resident Evil Requiem, the latest and most immersive entry yet in the iconic Resident Evil series. Experience terrifying survival horror with FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft, and dive into pulse-pounding action with legendary agent Leon S. Kennedy. Both of their journeys and unique gameplay styles intertwine into a heart-stopping, emotional experience that will chill you to your core.’

Resident Evil has been on two sides of the fence in the past when it comes to its gameplay. It’s usually heavily relied on either its combat features or its critical thinking with puzzles or resource management. As told during the showcase at The Game Awards, Leon’s segments will deal with more action combat segments, while Grace will have a much more “Horror” experience, dealing with the puzzles and investigations. In case some were wondering there is a feature that will allow free swapping between first-person and third-person perspectives.
