Rematch Beginners Guide: How to Improve Your Gameplay

Rematch may look like a simple soccer game, but once you have tried it you will quickly realize how challenging this game can be at a high level. So, to help you get your bearings, here is a quick guide on how to improve your overall gameplay and strategy.

Rematch Beginners Guide

If you are playing Rematch at release or in the current Playtest, here are a few steps to improve your gameplay and, hopefully, put some more goals through the net.

  1. Don’t overcommit: This is a principle that applies to a lot of Rematch, but especially in positioning. If you are the only person back on defense and its a 50/50 ball around midfield, it’s probably best that you stay back and trust your teammates to take care of it. Positioning and keeping your team rotating will help you to stay in way more games of Rematch.
  2. Use the side and back walls: Players often only look for the passes they can make on the field, but it’s important to keep in mind that you can always set up a pass off the back wall or either of the side walls. These extra angles will give you a ton of options to choose from, making your passing that much better. Its also a nice option when you are in a pinch, just clear it off the wall!
  3. Maintain spacing: Little League soccer matches can quickly devolve into all players running at the ball. Don’t do this. Maintain space, find open pockets on the field, and try your best to get open for passes. You will also keep the other team’s attention this way, forcing them to keep an eye on you.
  4. When you go to shoot, don’t aim at the goal: This one may sound crazy, but hear us out. When you are shooting in Rematch, the best thing you can do is aim around the outside corner of the goal and use the analog stick to bend the ball towards the goal. This spin can catch a goalie off guard and lead to some great goals, like this one!

These are just a few tips to help you get your bearings in Rematch. The best way to improve outside of these is to play as much as you can and learn from your mistakes. Don’t worry, this game can make you feel silly in the early stages, but is a blast once you get the hang of it!
