Mega Evolutions are making a triumphant return as we journey to Kalos and Lumiose City in Pokemon Legends Z-A. Fans are buzzing about the possibility of new Mega forms, but which Pokémon are most likely to receive these exciting upgrades? At The Game Haus, we’re diving into the top 10 Pokémon we believe deserve a Mega Evolution in Pokemon Legends Z-A.
Mega Evolutions debuted in Pokemon X & Y back in 2013 as the generation’s standout feature. Initially, 28 Pokemon were granted 30 Mega forms, with Charizard and Mewtwo receiving two each. The following year, Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire introduced 18 additional Mega forms, bringing the total to 46.
The distribution of Mega Evolutions by generation (up to Gen 6) looks like this:
Mega Evolutions have remained wildly popular, and fans have been clamoring for new ones ever since. While there are countless deserving Pokemon, we’ve narrowed the list to those in the Kalos Pokedex, as they’re the most likely candidates for Pokemon Legends Z-A.
Starting the list is Golurk, a Pokemon whose design screams for a Mega evolution. Inspired by stone guardians or ancient relics, a Mega Golurk could receive significant stat boosts and a design upgrade reminiscent of the golems in Atlantis: The Lost Empire.

A Mega form for Tyrantrum could solidify its position as the “king” of fossil Pokemon. Whether it gains a new typing or retains its Dragon/Rock type with boosted stats, Tyrantrum has massive potential for a bold, prehistoric-inspired design.
Florges deserves recognition, especially with AZ’s Floette potentially playing a significant role in Legends Z-A. A Fairy/Grass typing and a regal, queen-like redesign could make Florges stand out in both gameplay and aesthetics.
Talonflame is already a powerhouse, but a Mega form could make it unstoppable. A Fire/Dragon typing could elevate its competitive edge, and its design could further highlight its fiery, sleek aesthetic.
These three take up multiple spots because their inclusion feels inevitable. When Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire gave Swampert and Sceptile Mega forms to complement Blaziken’s, fans were puzzled why these starters didn’t get the same treatment in X & Y.
As a standout from Gen 6, Aegislash is a strong contender for a Mega form. Imagine a samurai-inspired design, incorporating shields, spears, or even a katana-like blade. This Pokemon’s versatile design makes it a no-brainer.
Flygon fans, rejoice! This fan-favorite Pokemon has long deserved a Mega form. Its unique design could be further accentuated with larger wings, a sleeker headpiece, or enhanced dragon-like features. Already present in the Kalos Dex, Flygon feels like a perfect candidate.
We can’t overlook Sylveon or even all Eeveelutions. While unlikely, this would be a fitting addition during what The Pokemon Company has dubbed “the year of Eeveelutions.”
Zygarde takes the top spot as the most obvious choice. Ever since leaks of Pokemon Z during the X & Y era, fans have been waiting for Zygarde to shine. A Mega form for Zygarde feels almost guaranteed.
While Zygarde’s Complete Forme is already impressive, a Mega form could enhance its stats and moveset further. It’s even possible they’ll introduce an entirely new form for Zygarde, akin to Mewtwo’s multiple Mega forms.
